Strong is much more of a gamble than some of the other names passed around.
But he fits the profile for success.
1. Great recruiter
2. defensive minded
3. history of coaching up talent
4. high graduation rate for his players
5. players love him
The big questions left are what will he do for an OC, sounds like Ed Ogeron is coming in to be the DC.
I hope he keeps Wyatt, Porter, Bo Davis, and Giles. Also hope he promotes Shipley to an assistant coach.

FWIW, a well-respected insider from OrangeBloods is saying we have hired the new coach and it's looking like Monday for the announcement. The reason Mora and Briles "turned down" the job so quickly is because they were told there was no longer an opening.
If you had to guess, who would you say it is?
I hope Heard decides to stay. I heard he said he thinks he's still a Longhorn. He's going to let the season play out and see who they get. Unless it's Fisher and he brings Winston along...that would be amazing.
The last zinger was not a bad effort, but it could have been better.
You assholes better get ready because it's not Strong. The announcement is expected to be Monday.
Wanna bet?
Bobby Burton. Same asshole who said Mack was staying?
And who do you trust? Shuttlesworth? Give me a break.
(drops the ing mic)
Do you really want to go over all the crap JS is wrong about?
JS was right about Sexton's agent calling Texas a year ago. What has Burton been right about?
Several reports are saying it came down to Franklin and Strong, and they chose Strong.
I'm not gonna defend Burton as I don't like him. All signs have been pointing to Strong these past few days and those hoping for Saban are delusional. Now OB is saying it (not that Chip is reliable).
I wonder if Vance Bedford (DC) will come with Strong? He's a Longhorn.
Still hoping for Fisher/Winston, but I wouldn't be upset it it was Strong, or Franklin. Both are good coaches with good recruiting. Either would be a breath of fresh air for Austin.
Chip Brown reported Oliver Luck would be the new AD. Strong is not the hire.
I don't know, bro...Chip is pretty solid. He was the one who called Mack being done. Dude knows what the he's talking about.
Chip is also fed alot of misinformation from Bellmont.
Could be...I never believe anything until it's done...but as far as UT goes, Chip is usually pretty solid. We'll have to see..
