i wanted uruguay to win for the south american representation in semis, so I'm happy, but I feel bad for Ghana- they choked, but I dont remember seeing a more painful loss on a footie field.

what suarez did wasnt dirty, and he was punished for his offense- first with the penalty, then with the suspension. ghana just couldnt make em pay. hack a shaq is a great analogy for it.

hey, regardless of what you might think, I fully acknowledge Maradona's cheating in 86. I was happy we won, so what? Show me somewhere in this thread where I said Uruguay should be ashamed or something? I think the punishment for this sort of thing should be more sever, but I never said he should be banned for life. Stop making up.
I was obviously exaggerating. I think it's funny you want the dude banned for the finals if by some miracle the Dutch find a way to choke a seemingly gifted semis away. It's harsh enough that he has to miss what would have been the biggest international match of his life.

BTW, I hate how they hand out yellows like candy and dudes are missing the semis for ticky tack and tackles, or handballs in the middle of the pitch that don't even look intentional. If they're going to give out yellows so easily they really need to wipe them clean after each match in the knockout rounds. No need for a guy to miss a huge game just for a bad tackle or a hand ball that has no effect on the game.

60 matches with 6 losses, Copa America and Confed cup 'chip and 1st in qualifiers.... I wouldn't call that ugly at all, and there's certainly no shame in going out against that holland squad, who look like legit favorites for a finals appearance and cup le.
So winning is what matters, not the beautiful game... and I agree.

This has nothing to do with brasil I don't know how you managed to twist it that way lol
    lol I'm just

It just makes me sick that something like this happened to break a nation's heart on such an unfair play in my eyes
Please, if it's Lucio doing it then you would be 'lol ghana' all day long... lmao

Manny, i believe, was mentioning offside. In this video

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XUnA9XOm-Q

it seems that the two Ghana players were in offside at the start of the action (3. second). And these are exactly the two players that later took a shot at the goal and hit Suarez.

There needs to be a "goaltending" rule in football. That's just ridiculous.

Here we call football the beautiful game. It's just a term, coming from how it joins nations together, etc... it doesn't refer to the style of play haha

    baaast-aardd lmao

Man, probably yes, but I did say urunobili has the right to celebrate, I just didn't get how he didn't see my point of view and was raging at me

CROFL all the haters... Suarez shouldn't be suspended... an offside call should have been made instead...

Holland would have to play us with Suarez

that replay doesnt show when the ball is kicked so it doesnt show if they were offside or not. i dont remember seeing it offside when it happened but i watched over the net so i might be wrong. there were a couple offsides called on uruguay that werent though, and ghana got away with one earlier (that didnt result in anything). for the most part this ref did a good job though, missing offsides calls is fairly normal in a soccer game and the ones they missed were all close either way.

it does seem to me from that replay, that 6 and 19 fouled the out of the guy headering without getting any ball- if anything uruguay is lucky there was only one card on that play.

overall uruguay were the better team, they created more and better chances to score, but ghana gave them a very good fight and uruguay had to scrape out the win by holding on to the tie. never any question in my mind that uruguay would prevail in penalties

lol man, he's already owned himself at the press conference and resigned (well, he's deal was only 4 years, he just said he wasn't coming back).

We should pull an argentina and give pele a chance lol

and BTW three penalty kick fouls vs. Uruguay not called by the refs... we simply were the better team... it's an actual drag losing Suarez for the next game when it should have never made it to that stance...

    Oh maaaan

    I'm depressed

The last time I watched such an intense game in the WC was in the 1/4 finals...

......involving another African team I was rooting for.....

    Cameron vs England, 1990

What a game; that and 2010 Ghana-Uruguay were epic

    Just wow.
