Update on S Erik Huhn and where things are at with his knee rehab (24/7):

“It’s been very tough,” said Huhn. “I tore my ACL by basically landing wrong when I jumped up for an interception. So I’m very ready to get back at it. I just want to be able to go do lower body workouts, do drills and that type of stuff. I’m really looking forward to getting to work.”

“I go to the doctor later this month on the 25th and I should be getting real close to being cleared,” he explained. “It’s been five months and a week since it’s happened and during that time I’ve been doing what I can to get better. I just go to physical therapy and just do what they tell me.”

“I’m definitely ready to be back in a team environment and work towards winning a national championship,” Huhn said. “I’m going to start out at playing safety right now, and then we’re going to go from there once the season rolls around. I’ll get with the coaches and, depending on how things work out for me, see what exactly I’ll be doing. I just want to play football really. I don’t care what I’m doing or where it’s at, as long as I can get back to playing. I’ll help the team out however I possibly can.”

“I haven’t been to any practices yet or anything like that, so I’m looking forward to checking out the spring game when I go,” Huhn told Hookem.com. “I want to see how they look and watch my future teammates in action. I want to enjoy it all. I don’t get a chance to talk to the other guys too much, besides on Twitter, so that should be a lot of fun.”

What is HornsNation saying about OL Demetrius Knox visiting Ohio State soon?
Knox is going to Columbus on the weekend of April 19-21 to see some family, and while he is up there he will check out Ohio State. When he was asked about if Mack Brown was OK with the trip, he responded: "Hopefully haha...But we have an understanding."

Also, Alabama offered QB Foster Sawyer today, which could have somewhat of an impact.

from day one you get the feeling knox is DEFCON 1 red alert to be eventual decommit.

Hornsnation has written a good read on OOS prospects that Texas is targeting. They mention DB Deandre Scott of Imhotep Ins ute Charter (Pa.), and claim that he has an offer from Texas. Haven't heard of him before.

So, it seems that this is a Larry Porter special as he is friends with one of the Imhotep coaches...kid looks good.

CB Jermaine Roberts of New Orleans, LA names Texas his leader.

That didn't last long, as after his Bama visit yesterday he now has Bama on top.

CB DeAndre Scott's coach happens to be the uncle of S Brandon Simmons of Mansfield Timberview. Another connection.

He is. He moved to Texas while in junior high. Here's an update on his Ohio State visit from 24/7:

“All it really boils down to is that I am going up to visit my father in Ohio who I haven’t seen in years,” said Knox. “He is a huge Ohio State fan and wants to see the university. I have a chance to spend the day out with my dad at a place we both admire.”

“You know, it’s funny. I’ve already told the Ohio State coaches that I’m not going there and they’re okay with it. I say that I’m going to spend the day with my dad, who wants to visit OSU, and plenty of Texas fans want to hate on me about it,” Knox said.

“It’s simple really,” he explained. “If I wanted to be a Buckeye and I thought that Ohio State was the best place for me, then I could drop everything right now and commit there. That’s not the case though. I picked Texas for a reason."

“I know Texas is the place for me and that is why I committed,” Knox added. “If I wanted to take real visits, I would. It’s just spring break and I’m at home. I’m going to see family. I am 100-percent Texas.”

“We have an understanding,” Knox told Hookem.com. “They know all about it. If Mack Brown and Coach (Stacy) Searels have no problem with it and still show me love, why should anyone else trip about it? Everything is cool.”

Latest with 2015 RB Rawleigh Williams III of Dallas Bishop Lynch who could be a top priority for Texas in the next recruiting cycle (24/7):

“I didn't think it would happen so early,” Williams said. “It's a surprise, but it's a blessing at the same time. All of the people around me have prepared me for this and I know I have to stay humble and keep working.”

“I've been a Texas fan forever growing up,” Williams said. “As I've started being recruited I've kind of had to keep my options open to everyone, but I've always been a Texas fan.”

“I've visited Texas twice in the last year and I was there for the Baylor game this past season,” Williams said. “Coach Applewhite was down once to see me and Coach Chambers has been to the school twice, so they're there.”

“It shows you that a big-time coach appreciates your athleticism,” Williams said. “But it makes you want to work harder to get more and become one of the best in the country.”

“A&M is a school on the rise,” Williams said. “Oklahoma is always one of the best programs in the country, so those are two good schools recruiting me.”

“They (Williams' parents) always keep me straight,” Williams said. “They're always there to support me.”

“The location. I want to be an engineer, so that always plays a role in it as well. And playing time in a system that fits me” Williams said.

Update on 2015 S Justin Dunning of Whitehouse who will be in Austin on March 23rd for Texas' first Sop re Day (24/7):

“It was Coach (Duane) Akina who invited me to their sop re day,” said Dunning. “So I will be there for that. They also invited me to their spring game and I will be going to that, too.”

“I’ve already started to develop a relationship with Coach Akina,” Dunning explained. “He’s a real cool guy and I think he’s been doing a really good job of coaching up defensive backs to that NFL level. He’s definitely had a lot of success in that.”

“They were the team I grew up rooting for,” he told Hookem.com. “They were always my favorite. So I guess I just like the tradition of the school, the success of the teams they’ve had and the school itself overall."

“It will be my first trip to Texas, so I’m looking forward to it. I just want to get to know all of the coaches and build a relationship with them. I’m anxious to check out the campus to see if I really like it,” he added.

“Texas is still kind of my favorite,” said Dunning, “But I also like Texas A&M a lot. I like Oklahoma, TCU, LSU, Mississippi State, Baylor and Texas Tech, too. I’ve heard from some of those, like OU, Tech and also Alabama and LSU.”

Quotes from CB/S John Bonney of Houston Lamar (OrangeBloods):

"It was worth the trip (to Auburn). I got a chance to talk to all of the coaches. saw the campus, the stadium and everything. It was pretty cool," Bonney said. "Cam Newton was up there as well. It was a pretty good trip. I wasn't too familiar with Auburn before going there, and I learned some stuff about the school. I had known that they had won a championship a couple years back, but they really showed me how they run stuff up there."

"I'm not sure where I'll be going after this. I'm definitely trying to get up there for the Texas spring game,"
Bonney said. "I'll be running track and I'll be up there for Texas Relays, so I'll try to make it over for that. I'm not sure if I'll be making it to other schools, but I'll for sure be there."

"I'm definitely looking at that (programs with strong academics). Especially my parents. They definitely want me to go to a school that has good academics,"
Bonney said. "I want to major in business, so that's what I'm looking at right now."
"I know for sure by my senior year I want to be committed,"
Bonney said. "That plan is definitely still in place."

"They're (Texas) definitely high on my list. I like being able to play in the Big 12. To me, it's one of the better conferences, because you'll be playing against the best wide receivers,"
Bonney said. "Each year, the Big 12 is going to do well and have some of the top wide receivers picked in the draft. If you can shut people down playing there, you increase your stock."

Quotes from S Matrell McGraw on his recent contact with Texas (24/7):

“Texas contacted me two weeks ago,” said McGraw. “That was the first time I had heard from them. Coach (Major) Applewhite hit me up over Twitter and told me he liked my highlight tape. He passed that tape on to Coach (Duane) Akina. I then got in touch with Coach Akina and he let me know that they’re really interested in me and they want me there. He said he wants me to get on campus real soon, so I’ll be heading up there soon.”

“My friend Jermaine Roberts is going there for the Texas Relays, so I could go then,” McGraw said. “If he goes, then I may ride with him and visit Texas with him. If something did come up where he ended up not going, or I couldn’t make it with him, then I would come in either May for a visit or in June for one of their summer camps.”

“I don’t actually have a top three or anything like that,” he told Hookem.com. “There are three schools that, as of right now, are starting to separate themselves from the pack. Those three are Texas, Alabama and Oregon. They’re definitely not the only schools I’m considering, but like I said, they are beginning to look good. Right now though, everyone is still on the same page.”

“I want to narrow things down by the summer,” explained McGraw. “I’d like to have a top three then and then see what happens. I would like to just sort of analyze those three schools then commit when the time feels right.”
