It’s worth noting the Spurs have nine guards excluding Hilliard and including Ginobili, should he choose to stay. Five of them are 6’4 or under, even excluding Lonnie’s exaggerated height at 6’5 (looks more like 6’2). One of them will probably go. Parker, Forbes, and Paul are most expendable in ascending order. Wonder which one leaves or gets dealt.
Yep. Spurs have too many guards now. Especially with Green opting in. Should trade two of Patty, Green, and DJ. Probably let TP go.

The Spurs have six guards currently under contract, and that includes Manu, who is questionable to return. If he doesn't, and you sign Walker to his rookie deal, that's still six guards, assuming no trades.

White, Walker, Paul, Murray, Mills, Parker, Green, Ginobili, and Forbes. I understand Forbes and Ginobili have expiring contracts while Walker remains unsigned. Not sure if Paul has a team option.

Forbes isn't under contract. Neither is Parker. Walker may well be. So I'd say seven pending Manu. Paul is non-guaranteed

I'm talking purely from a injury prone standpoint. Guys who jump like this always seem to get torn acls and meniscuses. Like I said I hope I'm wrong.

jump like what? most college players jump off both feet and off balance whereas walker can already jump off either foot and on balance. that is an NBA ready skill.

Yeah, from what little I've seen Walker has NBA level athleticism and body control. The rest apparently showed enough potential for the Spurs to be really into him.

He plays off of his incredible athleticism. He mainly reminds me of the way Derrick Rose used to play preinjury. Other guys that come to mind are Blake Griffin and Zach Lavine. All 3 guys ended getting major injuries early in their career. He is a superb athlete but the athletes like these that rely on theirjumping ability are injury prone. Draft night suggested Lonnie Walker slipped to 18 because of injury concerns.

Walker measured in at the combine at 6’4.5 with shoes on. That’s only 1/4 of an inch shorter than D-Wade measured in at the combine, for comparison. So he’s probably about 6’3.5 barefoot. Donovan Mitc measured in at 6’3 with shoes on, but has a 6’10 wingspan, similar to Walker.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Walker grew another inch in the next couple years too, seeing as how he’s only 19. Combined with his impressive 6’10.5 wingspan and the fact that he’s an explosive athlete, I don’t see his height being much of an issue.

gotta love ST scouting reports which are based on speculation being preferred over the actual scouting reports which are based on actual measurements.

Thanks for the clarification. I was operating under the premise these players have cap holds and that Walker intends to sign with the team. There is a very real possibility of Parker coming back. Included Forbes since the team values familiarity, which likely means Parker may come back. Regardless, point was the Spurs barely added considerable height. They managed to add athleticism and actual length via Walker’s wingspan, but I remember Lowe saying the lack in height caused mismatches against GS where Mills guarded Thompson at times while Anderson guarded Green or Durant. Anderson was never a guard under my book.

Lol my bad, confused his height with Zhaire Smith (6’2.5 in the combine). No scouting report was made and the haul was decent, on a personal level. Dude looks just a bit taller or as tall as Adam Silver.

Also the original point was he’s not 6’4 or under? Guy is 6’4.5 with shoes on, 6’3.75 without. I’d say that’s decent until the team has to go against squads with taller, longer wings.

I mean, it’s pretty simple. Even if SA takes on a trade for Kawhi with Fultz in it, no biggie. Other moves will be made if Kawhi is moved.

Murray, White, Lonnie, Fultz, Danny, Manu, TP, Mills.

Manu and TP might be gone regardless. So that is 6. You move one of Danny or Mills in a Kawhi deal? You are at a good number.

Making a move isn’t as simple for this front office. Easier said than done.
