That’s hilarious! Hopefully that’s what Lonnie is gonna do on all the teams that passed on him!

That's fvcking hilarious. I didn't even see Walker in the picture at first. I had to go back and look at it a second time.

Would really like seeing Lonnie take over more. Folks are acting like he'd come in and get real minutes on the team, but he isn't showing he's beyond a d-league level yet. Some of that is health, since before this injury he had a couple of NBA-level moves and the physical attributes to make it in the league. But as of now, his offense wouldn't put him on the court, and he hasn't shown much defensively. As I've said before, I don't think this reflects particularly poorly on his prospects going forward. But if the plan had been to keep him in Austin this year so he could work on things like handles, shooting and play-making, then it makes sense to try to still do that. There's no upside to Metuing him.

I figure a part of it is he has to get a rhythm and conditioning after his injury. But no matter how eelll he’s playing in there “this season isn’t for him”. That was preordained b4 the season started and it would require even further injuries to perimeter players fir him to see time. I didn’t think Metu was ready to play in the NBa he looked the rawest if anyone in the roster. Athletic and that’s was it pretty much and he’s gotten time between Austin and the NBA. I do think playing in the real thing gives a player a better feeling of the compe ion and chemistry with his long term teammates. I don’t think White is doing anything this year that he couldn’t have done last season for example. Rookies and the Gleague is just Pops way.

I do agree he needs to play though specially coming back from an injury and getting his full confidence and conditioning back and he’s not going to accomplish that in 5 to 10 minutes with the big team.

Metu's been getting time with the mothership because of injuries.

    Walker has been injured.

He'll get called up if/when he improves or if the Spurs are desperate due to injuries. He's showing the promise he always has but hasn't shown the sustained dominance that is a signal the G-League won't help him anymore.

He hasn’t dominated so far but I believe that playing with better players will make you better and also look better out there on the floor. The games a lot easier when you’re playing with NBA players and not Gleague players all worried about themselves trying to get to the NBA.

Eh, no -- the G-League game is a lot easier. It's faster and sloppier so it's custom made for a skilled offensive athlete. With all the returning players the Toros have, their offense is fairly well run.

Walker just needs playing time and Austin is the place to get it at this point.

he has not been the focus of the offense, he is there to regain rhythm (at least until now)

Spurs are playing better. I don’t know if Pops would inject him any time soon even for garbage minutes, especially if he’s getting more minutes in Austin to improve his conditioning and feel for the game.

I can see him taking minutes away from Cunningham. It's not like Cunningham is a vital part of the rotation.

I understand your take but i'm not totally agree

He's coming from an injury and imo he's playing relax, not rushing things and he averages 15 pts on 23 minutes while shooting 46% ( on pace to 23.4 pts per 36m) . I'm note sure about the defense as i Watch only highlights .

Walker playing this year with the Spurs will be more about what he can do on defense than offense.

But what can he do on defense? I think he has pretty good tools, but it's not like he was a lock-down guy in college, and he doesn't seem to be doing that in the d-league yet. Add that to the possibility that he has no defensive chemistry with the rest of the roster, and he's as likely to be dicey as anyone already out there. Of course, I do think his basic athleticism would be an asset for a team that still seems to like to run.

Defense will keep him on the floor, but he can really help on offense, too. I'm not sure we've ever had a 2 guard with his combination of length and athleticism.

Read somewhere that Pop wants him to keep playing in the G-League and that him playing for the big club depends on his performance. So I guess if he dominates in the G-League he might actually get some NBA minutes, but otherwise no. Would probably have to string together a bunch of 25+ point games to do so

Donovan Mitc would've spent all of his rookie season in Austin

Everyone waiting on his return like the old man was going to put him in the rotation rofl
