Mamu gonna drop 40 on us in Toronto next year with Flav courtside.
And I'll be okay with that.

It just doesn't seem like they're searching for a stretch 4 at all. They spent 10 mil on Kornet, which I'm happy about of course, but have the rest of the MLE and the BAE left. Mamu got a 2 year 5.5 mil a year deal. They could've easily kept him. It just seems like they're gonna keep Bismarck or add minix, Ingram, etc idk what other random is on this squad. They could've kept Mamu for the IQ and stretchability. I don't get this decision.
They’re moving away from tweener 4/5 bigs who are ineffective on defense because they’re too slow to guard sf/pf and too weak/small to guard true c’s.
it’s like I’ve been saying. The Spurs have chosen a path. They want a “big wing” at the pf spot, instead of a traditional one that a lot of folks here haven’t moved on from. A big wing is a player whose strength isn’t rebounding, blocking shots, or staying in the paint - it’s a player who can guard 2, 3, 4 without being taken advantage of.
That would make sense if we weren’t getting killed on the glass all last season.
It started with Horry and continued with Diaw, Bertans, Gay, McDermott, Johnson, Barnes. All converted SF's/combo forwards (Horry was previous to signing here) that they played at PF.
It makes sense when you have C's like Robinson, Duncan, Wembanyama, who can mostly handle traditional big man duties solo, but the problem with trying to replicate the Celtics or Thunder is that those teams have unique personnel at guard/wing that play bigger than their size, so they generally reap the benefits of playing small without feeling the effects of it.
