The only teams that will beat the warriors in the West is OKC, Denver and Clippers.

The Lakers are a good matchup for the Warriors because they are awful defensively with Luka Reeves and LeBron on the court together. I still don’t trust Minny against them either.
Honestly think the Lakers would beat the Dubs since they'd get the whistles.

Think in that case I'd rather take a swing on KD assuming he comes on a discount.
There's no way I'm trading that pick for KD man. The Atlanta pick yeah, assuming it doesn't luck into the top 4. But I'm not trading the Spurs pick for Durant unless the team gets really bad luck and it drops to #10 or something. Murphy can shoot and is on a cheap contract for his level of talent for four more years and he'll be 25 next year so could be a long term piece.

Suns would have to give up more than KD but it has the added benefit of lessening the value of the Suns' picks Houston has.

    Tried telling djohn….

we have seen this movie before…the rockets will give away one of the first two games…might battle back but then the warrior-refs will gift a game to the dubs…

by game 5-6..rockets will start playing hard but it will be too little too late…

giving away games to these front running gots with the refs in their pockets is suicide….

I would love Trey Murphy on the Spurs, and yeah, considering age, I would rather have Murphy over KD. The thing with that kid is injuries, though. In 4 seasons, he has played over 62 games only once.

Jalen Green is a big reason I think I'd trade the pick if the Spurs land #2 through #4 if they can get a good vet like TMIII. I still remember when Green was supposed to be a can't miss talent.
Yeah, but he came from that farm, GLI. That he was the best to come out of that non-developmental waiting room shows what a show it really was.

The NBA says the Lakers are still le contenders. Do you believe them? If not, why would you buy into GLI hype? It’s the same apparatchiks.

FvV sucking is one thing. He chucks. But he can get hot, I guess.

Jalen Green is simply terrible. One play near the end he was just ball watching when he should have been guarding transition. Gave up a free dunk off the rebound. I think Udoka is going to kill him.

Saw that too. Not sure they can bench him though, they're gonna struggle to score as it is.

They're doing it the right way and their front office deserves this.
They received their franchise player when he was 21 and he developed into the best guard in the league there.
Looking at minutes per game this season, 2nd-7th were all drafted by OKC except Hartenstein.
From 8th to 18th, just Caruso was traded for, they got Joe as a reclamation project after Sixers got rid of him, everyone else was drafted by them.
Their coach joined their G-league team at 29 and worked his way up through the ranks.

If it wasn't OKC, everyone would be loving what they did.
And they did it with just two years of tanking, went right back to 40 wins in the third season.
the Joe and Wiggins extensions already look like insane values

Don't want to take too much away from a Game 1, but that must've been a demoralizing loss for Rockettes fans. How can you cope with the flashbacks, getting shafted over and over again by the same dudes?

Not really for Jaquez. He was another in a long line of older draftees that show out in year one, then the league figures them out and they all it disappear.
The main reason is that he‘s ing his coaches ex-wife tbh

Did Brandon Podziemski his coaches ex-wife? Did Chris Duarte? It’s a common recent dynamic that 22/23 YOs get drafted, show out for a year, then fall off. Besides, I think Riles would rip Spo a new one if he weren’t playing the best players.

JG is a product of his environment. He had all the tools to be a pretty damn good player. Instead the Rockets just wanted him to be a chucker who played no defense. His first couple of seasons (I’ve seen quite a few Rocket games here) was about as painful to watch as I can remember any sports team. It was basically whoever got the rebound dribbles up the court and launches a 3 pointer. There was zero movement on offense, zero structure, and zero accountability as a team. I knew right there and then that JG was going to fall by the wayside.

Now eventually they got Ime but I fear it was too late for him. He was already behind mentally in the game but when you add all the horrible habits he learned on top of him not knowing how to play basketball, well he never really had a chance. His only hope is that he matures and has a wake up call. But it’s not going to be on Houston. He’d be great on the Warriors though tbh or even the Lakers.

Jalen Green looked like hot in Game 1 but he's also always been an inconsistent player. He's the kind of guy who can look absolutely horrible one game and then play like an All-Star the next, so I'm not writing him off just yet. Could easily have a big bounce-back game tomorrow.

Regardless though, Houston's problem all season has been their inability to score the ball consistently, so this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Their lack of a true #1 option Offensively really hurts them. And their $43M/year "leader" in FVV ting the bed last night with his 11 points on 4-19 shooting really compounded things offensively.

I think they bounce back in Game 2 (cause they have to or this series is a wrap), but they also kinda got ed by having to face Golden State in the First Round, who are not a true #7 Seed. They're arguably the best Defensive team in the league since adding Jimmy Butler and are now 23-7 since acquiring him as well. Had they had him all season long, they would've been a top-4 Seed tbh.

I love seeing Derrick White succeed, even if it brings on PTSD flashbacks from the season where Pop refused to start White and Murray in the back court together, and instead gave big minutes to an undersized defensive liability SG named Bryn Forbes, a move that seemed to defy common sense, all of NBA history, & all advanced stats.

This sounds like GSW fans swearing Kuminga or Wiseman were just not brought around correctly and the teams sucked at developing them.

Na. Sometimes players just suck and aren't capable of doing more than they're currently doing. Hope and dreams are not real and Jalen Green has always been a AAU low IQ low effort player.

Yeah except it’s nothing like that. Golden State is a championship team with lots of players with championship experience and they have a great coach and great leadership in the locker room. Houston had none of that.

Those years Hou was winning like 20 something games a season. They had an owner who came in and got rid of the veteran coach, every single veteran player, and hired the worst GM and coach combo in the league at the time besides the Wizards. I get that nobody here watched Hou, the only reason I did is bc tix were 5 bucks and I always thought to myself was well I have 5 dollars

But the coach had zero offensive system. It was a show and every time I watched I was appalled at how badly this team played and was coach. They had KPJ running point ffs. Christian Wood was their best player. It was bad ownership, bad FO, and bad coaching. Literally the opposite of the Warriors. If a player fails in the Warrior system with Steph Curry getting double teamed, a man always glued to Klay (back when he played for them) and Draymond spoon feeding people shots then that is on them. Plus Kerr is a great coach.

Im not sure if JG would be an all star or something. He has the tools to become one. Maybe he would’ve stayed the same player. But he would’ve had a better shot at learning basketball and learning good habits on a winning team with structure, good coaching, and accountability. To me, JG is almost the exact same player as Andrew Wiggins. And Wiggins was a garbage player in Minny who eventually learned how to play basketball in G St.

That was my kind of game. The Warriors defense was so dialed in and I was kind of shocked that they could sustain that like they did. Best defensive display I've seen this season.
