Manny is the King of the HoopsCzar fan club.
He hasn't owned this thread Manny. He started out as a source of ridicule, but now he's just irritating people. Still, most posters are just mocking him for amusement. He's made an ass of himself with ridiculous proclamations and an idiotic analysis of the series. His penchant for speaking in "tongues" - or whatever non-sensical babble and medieval language he's attempting - makes him sound like a borderline schizophrenic locked in his mothers basement. Whatever meds he's on he needs to up his dosage.
But, if by owned you mean someone who appears to have no life and has not left this thread in three days ( he has at his writing 143 messages, of which 141 are on this thread alone) yeah, I guess in sheer numbers of all posts and an obsessive round the clock surveillance of this thread, you could say he sort of "owns" it.
Take a break and get some sleep HoopsCzar. It might help you sound less delusional.
bump for the czar, spurstalk rookie of the year.
Game 2 adjustments
First off there are no excuse’s and the Spurs took that game fair and square. Which is to say the ref’s are letting the players play and in the conclusion of game 1. There’s not a call that was made or not called that bears any significance of scrutiny to squabble about the impact nor outcome,..I like what I’m seeing from the ref’s.
Why I anticipated a Cavaliers loss in game 1?
Its beyond no mystery but etched in stone via pattern it’s a known that against quality opponents the Cavaliers never take the first game. Which unfortunately has them playing out of a hole and it’s not a scripting tactic of intent it’s a redundantly exploitable flaw derived from the poor assimilation of scouting and coaching a script in tandem.
Which presents the hurdle that for the Cavaliers to win somewhere along the line LeBron James has to literally and figuratively take over,..that’s not coaching a great player that’s all out survival by reliance upon his lone ranger abilities.
The Cavaliers upending of the Pistons was predominantly fueled by one thing alone,..revenge.
Where unlike the Pistons that psyche point is non existent because the Spurs not having bounced the Cavaliers out of a championship contention yet. In game 1 you saw what can best be described as textbook disarming and dismantling and the Cavaliers brain trust having LeBron James bottles up and the team absorbing defeat via an opponents attack,..the Cavaliers didn’t attack because brain trust scripting wise they simply don’t know how and thus game 1. Was a clairvoyance anticipated loss that was yet to be recorded that now via pattern and routine has.
They’re not out yet though
The Cavaliers are athletically talented enough to compete against and beat anybody. But beyond the google eyed aspirations of their brain trust that refuse to resign themselves to they aren’t the Pistons nor the Spurs. Where with their great fortune of having a LeBron James savoir his style of gifted play doesn’t fit the mechanical of either the Pistons or Spurs,..liken it to idling down a fighter jet to hover in a style resembling that of a cargo formation.
The glaring pattern in the way of scripting there’s either a defiant refusal or flat out imbecilic inability to identify their own strengths by iden y,..it’s routine scene to have him take unnecessary 0-1 and 0-2 shots from opponents and via sheer will of survival. The team and entire franchise rely upon him fighting his way out of a corner and hope to god he can pull it off,.. again.
Beyond the dirty Laundry
Winning isn’t easy consistently losing off the draw like that is not attribute of neither a competent GM nor coaching. So too and neither were nor are the win’s that allowed the Cavaliers to get this far off the court genius,..you’ll notice a Superman in reviewing the highlight reels and in uniform he wears number 23.
Game two adjustments
LeBron James is the indisputable key and if the cavaliers don’t play to their athleticism. He’ll continue to be saddled and there’ll be no chance they’ll win this pivotal game 2 nor legitimize their survival in this series,..by absolute inability / refusal to spring him on the Spurs.
Tim Duncan played so well having the Cavaliers attack in a carbon copy fashion of exactly what he sees in practice. That game 1 took on the iden y of an intramural scrimmage where the pupil tried to beat his teacher ,..and within that lackluster tutorial an element called LeBron James was squandered to afford Pop to a teach another practical to best his combo castoff neophytes and the global interest showed a bottom of the barrel rating of attracting viewers.
Bench Hughes?,.. no way.
Larry Hughes’ foot unfortunately disables him to plant, cut, slide and step to position in ways to spring on the offensive attack or defensively cut Parker off. So the adjustment is limit but not abort Hughes role as a starter and realize and defensively script that,..Tony Parker is right hand dominant and all but can’t attack with the left hand.
That Adjustment
So play the post in a floating box facing him with the hard show on his right and merely flash high side help on the left. To force him to show or attempt to go with his right hand complicated by staggered defensive help. As well as augmenting that gauntlet by playing a sag trap off Tony Parker on the perimeter in a pseudo if not spot coverage phased zone. As to deny the lane penetration obscure the passing lanes and force him to become a shooter if he’s going to try to attack,..Parker is an affluent ball handler but he’s no perimeter marksman nor a big time passer in the halfcourt set. But trying to start Gibson against him creates an early foul situation for the rookie at this juncture of his inexperience and it’ll limit his availability and style of play down the stretch and loosing his shot as a floor element early is flirting with disaster.
Note: Steven A. { Sir blowhard } Smith John { holy shyt } Hollinger calling for Gibson to start show’s a mouth without a bottom. Who don’t know the dynamics and a syndicated face with an open pie hole that yells without being supported with any semblance of a anointed basketball understanding nor brain,..games are shaped in the 1st quarter not won nor lost that soon but players can be hampered and options limited if gambling that early.
What I saw
It’s the later reaction of the Cavaliers big’s that’s needed on Parker’s penetration. Which by poor recognition and positioning of defensive scheme that has allowed Duncan to play off the draw of Parker and himself finish at such a high percentage he got a series of point blank dunks. That was afforded via the Cavaliers slow reaction and lack of recognition of what the Spurs were scripting,..the Spurs aren’t Shaq dominant inside but they’ve got one of the best mobile big’s in the business in Duncan. So the they align their attack off the wing and employ the side pick and roll to create. Which it’s priority number one to them and has been their bread and butter iden y.
How to defend it
You’re not going to render Duncan scoreless but to limit his impact and the Spurs flow. To derail the side pick and roll the sag off Parker is paramount. Because it allows another defender to front Duncan to limit the inside pass view, Parker penetration and go to options in the shot clock,..make Parker go to his perimeter shot early don’t let him feed it by showing the lane penetration as a balancing threat.
Force Duncan baseline by playing the lane defense from inside out with an alternating flasher to front him. In doing that the Cavaliers have to limit their bigs from flashing out on perimeter ball handlers and shooters so much. Because it creates backside lanes that the Spurs ran cutters to exploit and got higher percentage shots than what was contested via the big’s being drew out of position,..that’s a coaching flaw that should have never been given to the Spurs to exploit knowing they don’t have a true rim defending defensive big to clean it up.
Cavaliers on the attach
Unquestionably feed non physical force by angle because LeBron James absolutely has to be a moving target. Posting him up won’t become less uncontested until movement by swinging and sharing the basketball is performed. Which is what creates lanes from defenders movement that makes the shot clock positional chess game .
It’s also required to allow Ilgauskas to get better looks off positioning and far more opportunity to attack Oberto and Elson inside,..continue to lose that advantage and nothing favorable will happen and they’ll continue to lose the games.
Free your King
LeBron James was stagnated by very good Spurs help defense off the draw. Which as a result not only did he not get off early he wasn’t able to get on track at all in any facet of the game. With no disrespect for Bruce Bowen but Bowen was merely the homing beacon and allowed Spurs help defenders to complicate LeBron’s ability to put the ball on the floor with any room to move or space to launch an aggressive attack from,..the Cavaliers idea of coaching allowed that to be employed for 4 quarters of basketball and made no adjustment against the 3 on 1 defense,.. that’s deplorable having a player that good.
The Spurs actually doubling the Cavaliers in assists shows the Cavaliers slow on the draw effort of non attack. Was non energetically inept and stymied and therefore they seized both the King and the game,..the change HAS to be movement and challenging the Spurs inside to get cleaner perimeter and midrange looks.
Strike up the transition
To do that the Cavaliers can’t continue to wait for the Spurs to set defensively and expect to unleash the King nor create any Cavaliers transition points. In that passive mindset the chances of winning dwindles to the degree of all but non existent,..see game 1 for details.
Off the score or miss the Cavaliers have to periodically push the ball and limit their perimeter shot’s. Because they create long rebounds by mere trajectory of the velocity off the possible miss,..merely matching the Spurs in fast break points as managed in game 1 is no Cavalier advantage what so ever.
Who’s the X factors
As stated initially Sasha Pavlovic is and it’s fact that neither Michael Finley nor Manu Ginobili can deny him the lane. Not even in that poorly scripted train wreck of a set that Mike Brown displayed masquerading as an offense in game 1.
When the game opens up via motion movement and swinging the basketball. Pavlovic’s element becomes even more lethal and with that kind of draw on LeBron. He’s a young gem that plays with conviction and at times out of control on the penetration. So by forcing the defense to shift and swing the method of attack to force it is invaluable to springing the still developing youngster,..a 20 point game wouldn’t be a first for him and scoring 30 or better is a reality if the attack implements his skills set.
Last but not Least
I’d told you about Drew Gooden being far better than a mere body to even the sides in number. Where the good and bad is you only saw him in a stand and wait by chance playground set. That had him making his marks by hit and miss opportunities that off the boards.
He’s one of the most athletic PF’s in the entire NBA and for some reason like LeBron James, Sasha Pavlovic and Larry Hughes when healthy. He too is being squandered in a style of play they’re resigned to playing but doesn’t unleash their skill’s sets in the least,..they got this far because those players are good enough to even win at a lower percentage that was good enough to qualify,.. but they’ll have to be unleashed to beat the Spurs.
With Eric Snow not being utilized as a seasoned stopper and or team floor cohesion glue. The Cavaliers merely lose another element the Spurs don’t have to contend with,..and in contrast the Spurs were able to steal 10 minutes with a less seasoned and less defensively talented Jacque Vaughn.
Game staple statement
When those horseman are able to attack to free up LeBron. Only then can he post up drive off the dribble and find cutters via the pass off the draw. Then a Daniel Gibson, Donyell Marshall and Damon Jones can loom as factors to launch the daggers,..as of now as a result of mis-scripting they’re merely marksmen and a defender in Eric Snow laying in stagnated wait.
If we see that as recognized and employed by a slow learning Mike Brown you’ll witness a Spurs defeat,..and I’d guarantee it.
If we don’t the series goes 2-0 and not only will the Cavaliers importance of taking a game in San Antonio be lost. But without the Cavaliers showing a willed ability to strike the Spurs will have nothing to derail them from beating them in Cleveland or anywhere else,..and I’m hoping somebody in the Cavaliers fold know comparably as much as I do to make the immediate adjustments.
GET UP !!!
