As far as his talent level, read the my opinion on his legacy a few posts earlier....I think that is what separates him from many innovators in music across genres. I'm not a hyperbole person myself so you won't here me throwing out the term GOAT anytime soon, but the dude really stnads alone in musical history IMO.

I probably shouldn't have carried such a hyped up tone in my previous tone and if you don't celebrate any aspect of his life that's your right, but the "I have more important things to do outside of focus on his death yet I'll still post in a thread about it" seems kind of contradictory to me.

Meh, I'll live and I actually wasn't outraged or anything if you check my initial reaction. I can understand the disconnect with him personally given the state of his personal life....I can also say to each his own regarding the music, but he definitely changed the industry and even the culture of music. Different people are going to bring up different aspects of his life, my comment was mainly in honor of his creative legacy.

Who, in our generation, has NOT tried to do the moonwalk? Anyone who denies it is a ing liar. I was born March 10th 1980, I grew up listening to Michael.

I hate the person he became and compltetely disconnected from him when I saw him dangle his kid from a balcony (that was the LAST straw, I had already started to part ways before that). Before that I was a fan of his work (not a big fan, just a fan).

I prefer, like I said in the NBA forum, to believe Michael the performer died at around that time. Michael the person was different and I couldnt understand him at all. He was a freak. I still at this time believe he at least did something that would at best be considered inapproriate with children. I mean, come on, you where accused of molestation and the best you could come up with was that you didnt molest a child yet you had them sleeping in your bed but yet paid millions of dollars to settle? He was practically a billionaire, couldnt he fight to clear his name? Come on.


Michael the entertainer is a completely different story in my book though. The guy was a ing genious. I had so disconnected with him over the past 10-15 years I completely forgot how magnificent his music video's where until I started looking them up again. Now I miss him and thats a part of the tragedy of his life. He could have been the greatest of all time.

the guy Transcended religion for s sake, nevermind color or place of origin. The dude was a ing icon and affected people all over the world with his music. Name ONE artist that has affected as many people as Michael and I will strait up call you a ing liar. Michael was the real deal and its a sad day that he is gone and didnt get the chance to revive his career.

Note: If he DID molest anyone, and IF there is a higher power that governs these things, I hope he burns for it but at the same time I thank him for what he did in his time here on Earth. When he performed, he connected people and thats a powerful thing.

Well... it's become apparent that his doctor was just his legalized drug pusher. I don't think the doc was the one to give him the final dose... but at the same time I doubt he was doing anything to curb his destructive habit.

I'm not exactly sure how liable he's gonna be.

There are two other performers in American Music history like him and they had arguably greater success than he did.


Bing Crosby and Elvis Presley.


Bing Crosby was the top star in every medium, radio, film, music, he has the best selling single of all time still, he was an Oscar winning actor, he was the highest paid music artist and actor for many many years. And he changed the music industry, creatively and commercially.


However he lived to be old.



Elvis Presley has more #1 hits as a solo performer than any other single artist, he has more top 10 hits...

And in addition to all that, Elvis was the highest grossing, highest paid actor in Hollywood for an entire decade. If you combined the careers of Michael Jackson, AND Tom Cruise?

You would approximate the career of Elvis Presley, and he didn't die old.


And believe it or not, the reaction to Michael Jackson's death pales in comparison to when Presley died.

You literally could not get away from the news that Elvis died when he died.

Elvis was so big that his death completely erased the death of Groucho Marx, an iconic star in his ownright that occurred on the same day. In fact his death eclipsed that of Crosby's death two months later. Because 2 months later everyone was still talking about Elvis' death.

And he also changed the music industry creatively and commercially.


So no, he really wasn't the only one of his kind.

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Michael Jackson's family suspects that the singer's personal doctor, Conrad Murray, knows more about Jackson's death, but they have been unable to contact him, the Rev. Jesse Jackson told CNN on Saturday.

The parents need to know what happened in the last hours of Michael Jackson's life, Jesse Jackson said. Murray is believed to be the last person to see Michael Jackson alive.

"The routine inquiry is now an investigation," Jesse Jackson said. "They [the Jacksons] didn't know the doctor. ... He should have met with the family, given them comfort on the last hours of their son."

Police, who met briefly with Murray after the singer's death, have been able to reach him and are trying to set up an interview, Los Angeles Deputy Police Chief Charlie Beck told the Los Angeles Times on Friday. Police said the doctor has been fully cooperative.

Detectives impounded Murray's car, which was parked at the singer's rented home, because it may contain evidence related to Michael Jackson's death.

Police have released no information on what they may have found.

Michael Jackson died Thursday, and an autopsy was performed the following day. The body was taken to an undisclosed mortuary Friday night.

The family wants to hear Murray's account of what happened, but they can't locate him, Jesse Jackson said.

"The doctor's bizarre behavior here is creating all these su ions," he said. There are lingering questions, such as: 'How long had he stopped breathing? How long had he been unconscious?'"

He said the family may decide to pursue its own inquiry.

"At this point it [the investigation] is very incomplete," he said. "... They need an independent autopsy to get even more answers to questions that are now being driven by the gap between when Michael was last seen alive and [when] he was pronounced dead day before yesterday."

The possibility that Michael Jackson was taking medication that could have contributed to his death at age 50 weighs heavily on people close to the star.

In 2005, after he was cleared on charges of child molestation, Jackson spent a week at a center run by Dr. Deepak Chopra, a physician who focuses on spirituality and the mind-body connection.

During that week, the pop star asked Chopra for a prescription for a narcotic, the doctor told CNN.

"I said, 'What the heck do you want a narcotic prescription for?'" Chopra said. "And it suddenly dawned on me that he was probably taking these and that he had probably a number of doctors who were giving him these prescriptions, so I confronted him with that. At first, he denied it. Then, he said he was in a lot of pain."

Chopra said he told Jackson that there were plenty of other ways to handle his pain, but that Jackson was not convinced.

He blamed Jackson's death on drug abuse, though he offered no direct evidence.

"When you have enough drugs in your system, your heart goes into an arrhythmia and your respiration stops," he said. "I think the drugs killed him."

Brian Oxman, a former lawyer for the Jackson family who was in the emergency room Thursday, also expressed concern about medications the pop star was taking.

"I talked to this family about it, I warned them -- I said that Michael is overmedicating and that I did not want to see this kind of a case develop," Oxman told CNN's "American Morning" on Friday.

He referred to Anna Nicole Smith, the former model and reality television star who died of an overdose in 2007.

"I said, 'If that's what's going to happen to Michael, it's all going to break our hearts.' And my worst fears are here," he said.

Jackson was in cardiac arrest when paramedics took him Thursday from his home to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where the music idol was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m. (5:26 p.m. ET).

If it was true that he lied, why did he wait until after the death to "admit" to lying. I'm not saying Michael Jackson is guilty or innocent, and I do believe people were just out to get money. I also don't know if the "report" is accurate since it's on someone's blog. I would be more apt to believe that he really said it if it was from a News outlet.
