Il Papa doesn't necessarily mean proselytizing, trolling for Catholic converts, like the Protestant scammers do.
He could mean getting involved in politics to help the poor, disadvantaged, the near-poor, sick, old, orphans, etc as pure acts of charity without any Protestant-style "ya gotta become a Bible humper if you want my help" scamming.
I would think the pope definitely wants his catholics to get politically involved in issues like abortion. Which they do.
