This is a synopsis of what is going on by most reputable sources:

Russia is intensifying its bombing of rebel positions so that the Syrians can retake their most important Western cities. These rebels are a mish mash of Al quaeda and other factions backed by various ME en ies (Saudi Arabia and it's group). The Saudis are giving these NON ISIS rebels US made TOW missiles which are being used to hit Syrian tanks and other armored vehicles. The US is not telling Saudi Arabia to stop this so now we have a proxy war. The UN sees this and realizes this is all very bad for civilians who are in the crossfire of all groups and has called for a meeting.

The major fighting the Russians are aiding IS NOT AGAINST ISIS.

The rebels that are fighting Assad are a quite varied group. The groups that have the TOWs are not al Qaeda. The US has basically said to the Russians, ok, you want Assad to stay in, then we will not get in the way of letting Saudi Arabia arm rebels to kill Syrian armor. This is a bad thing for civilians because the interjection of the weapons means the rebels will counter the Russian bombing/Syrian moving in with ground to ground missiles. TOWs can be shot at a good distance away and wipe out armored vehicles. This makes the Russians job tougher so the fighting will get more intense. More widespread bombing more dead civilians.

But why do you care? You just want dead Arabs, you are getting this. You should be happy. Both the US and Russia are aiding in the death of darker skinned people. Cheers.

They do. It's already been suggested.

Why should the Russians engage ISIS if they get Assad stabilized? That's time to chill and make deals with the US and the West to help get rid of ISIS for them and possibly let Assad run the whole thing again. There is no way the Syrian Army can defeat ISIS without infinitely more help than they are getting now, No way. Not to mention the fact that the task of getting parts of Syria back to Assad has just become much more difficult. The Saudis have 14,000 TOW missiles. Reports have them giving the rebels 400 and no more until they get the used casing back. So far these missiles have been unexpectedly deadly. The Syrians are getting toasted in their armor. It's going to get nastier before it gets better.

More dead civilians, more displaced civilians.
