In a couple hours it's off to them hills, another family thing. I will have a friend also into track record the Nationals, we'll watch them together when I get back Monday. That is what real track geeks do and if we couldn't record them I'm not heading to them hills. I can go there anytime, this meet is a one weekend deal and a MUST see.

Today the cat (Noah Lyles) who broke Roy Martins long standing HS 200m with a 20.09 ran the 100m at our Nationals.
His 200m endurance was the difference as he won in a world leading 9.88. He was able to sustain/maintain a larger % of his max velocity longer, he decellerated at a slower pace.
Earlier this season he ran the 200m in 19.69.
So...9.88 times two...19.76.....yep, close.
So when SFS talks about running a 19.5, he would have had to have run a 100m in around....9.75/9.80....hahahahaha~~~~ How damn stupid does this idiot think people are?
Usain Bolt holds both the 100/200WR's...he's ran 9.5/19.1....

See how it works? A cat who can only run a 10.5 100m is not running a sub 20.00 200m, he's going to run...21.0ish.

The HUGE race at these Champs is 400/200 stud Michael Norman vs 100/200 king Noah Lyles. With the excception of Bolt, these matchups usually favor that 200/400 cat, that superior endurance over superior speed******
BUT.....Norman is coming off a long NCAA season, Lyles runs in the pro ranks so has ran far less. And, he just PRed at 100m meaning he's in peak condition, can we say that about Norman?
****** Bob Hayes as fast as he was couldn't beat Henry Carr at 200m, why? Well....Henry Carr was a stud 400m cat, he anchored ASU 4x4 to a WR and a USA 4x4 team to a WR.....44.6...split. So there would be Bullet Bob coming off the curve with the lead, then here came Henry Carr with his superior endurance. Same with Tommie Smith vs the far faster Jimmy Hines. Same with Michael Johnson vs the far faster Ato Boldon and Frankie Fredericks.
