That was my immediate thoughts. I get that Lakers were a no-go.
I dont even care I wanted to keep Ingram and to a lessor extent Kuzma but would let him gor Kawhi.

you could argue even injured that your top 3 defenders (and wing defense) last year were Kawhi, Green and Kyle. you replaced them with DD, Bellinelli and Cunningham. Only DC is a plus on defense and I doubt he plays much.

On offense you have 3 iso scorers Murray, Gay and DD but now have 3 bigs Potel, Pau and Aldridge that will congest some of those driving lanes. Also aldridge and Gay like to score in some of the same spots DD does.

But hey yall did ship KL as far away from LA as possible ... nice job!
Lakers played it smart & safe. Kawhi isn't a human being like Paul George. He will be a Laker next year.

RC just needs to tear it down and rebuild.
Pop won't let him. RV Drunkford is a glorified secretary, tbh.

The fact that 3-8 in the West is a tossup. I'd argue we are better than last year. So ill take this deal.

In the end, who cares if we are 3rd or 7th. Can we match up with Golden State in the playoffs is all that matters. F Houston, we always find ways to beat Pringles.

Ill tell you what. Jakob has the footwork and Athleticism to better guard the switch than Gasol. Gives us a way to slide LMA to the 4.

If DJ improves his shot is the key imo. Get that guy confident in shooting opens up everything.

I don't understand why the Spurs don't just play out the season and try to keep him. If the Spurs win 60 games and make the WCF, then offer the supermax next summer, why would Kawhi want to walk away from that? It's a win-win.
You're thinking rationally, where The Group is not. He has cash starved leeches wanting a payout. The CBA limits what an agent can take from an NBA contract, but there is no such limitation on outside endorsements. Impact could literally take half of the money from a shoe deal. They don't care about the SuperMax, but Kawhi should. He's the one taking a HUGE haircut on this.

    Murray/Pau/1st for Kemba + Batum....

Gotta keep shaping the roster if your goal is to be somewhat compe ive with acquiring DeRozan.....

At least we didnt get that got Kyle Kuzma back in a trade, I would have probably slit my wrists if that were the case

It is not a done deal. Please wait to panic.
I feel there will be a third team involved.
Yes it is a done deal. Spurs have already officially released terms of the trade.

Sure. It means you can make it to the WCF before losing to them.

Should every team just tank because Golden St is stacked?
i'm not saying any team should tank but the point is that it's not as if the opportunity for a le has been lost. KL on the spurs next season would not have changed that.

at least Derozan is a better offensive player in terms of creating shots and penetration.

Now that it’s official does that mean Kawhi passed his physical or Toronto waived it or whatever?

Yeah, I mean if they were planning on getting another all-star if Kawhitter stayed might as well still do it. Trade whoever you have to other than LMA and Derozan.

Yup. If Pop is really bent on at least "contending" these next 2 years then might as well go all-in. As long as they keep 2 out Murray, Walker, and White, I'm fine with it.

This trade looks even worse if all they do is stand pat heading into next season.

And he declared after losing in the playoffs that he was committed to working on his defense in the offseason. Excited, tbh.

    Ha ha ha : -

"Leonard also is not happy at going to Toronto, for several reasons, including the higher taxation rate in Canada than in Texas, which has no state income tax. " http://www.nba.com/article/2018/07/1...oronto-raptors

Bottomline: RCB and Pop shipped out a thankless ingrate to a place where he loses more money and got an All-Star in his prime in return. Too bad, they had to give up Danny Green. But who knows, Danny can come back to the Spurs later too.

So, is it a done deal? Two millions threads about Kawhi and once that he gets traded for real, we don't get a thread?

Kawhi was gone, I see it like trading DG for DD... who didn't take the max when he could have, signed through his prime

how's the team's cap space look at this point, post trade?
