Yes! At least now you have a chance to see icy patches. Darkness not only means you can't see them, but the loss of what little daylight you have now means the bridges, overpasses, and roadways will freeze up even more (loss of radiational heating). Get home, girl!

I got back from breezy 75 degree temps just in time
Here's the problem. When we get these heavier showers, the liquid melts the existing ice a bit, but the moment the rain lets up it starts to refereeze. The kind of precip we're getting right now is flat out horrible and is going to make things really bad. If the temp right now is still at 30 degrees, theres no way its getting above 32 for any extended period of time. And if things melt a bit just to refreeze, then its worse than if the ice had just stayed put.
LOL, all of the transguide camera's are frozen.
As Slomo said, we are wusses when it comes to winter weather, but then again in Europe they die by the hundreds when the temps go into the upper 90s.

There was a really bad joke a few years back, when extended period of high temperature were nicknamed as the French retirement plan.

Its gonna get interesting right around 5 or so. Thats when the sun starts to really stop having an effect and by 7 I bet the freezing rain just ends and wet get nothing but sleet/snow the rest of the night.
now it stopped and it's raining slightly.
and now back to freezing. I can tell by the sound it makes when it hits my windows.
Its starting to come down here. I think its rain though.
