Magette would have made a huge difference in a game like tonight's.

When nobody could hit the broad side of a barn in the 2nd and 3rd, he could have picked up some cheap points at the line.

And having anybody else out there for Finley's minutes couldn't hurt.

I am beginning to wonder how more than just Tim feels about what the front office has done lately.
same thoughts. I can feel a near Timmy asking for trade before his contract expires if this continues

You know i have taken it easy on the Spurs this year so far but this effort makes me want to beat my ing head against a wall so hard i'll have to file for disability. They said it during the telecast where the is the hardnose effort for 48 min they only start playing when they are down big. Lets review tonights game here, MANU SUCKED, TONY SUCKED and oh yeah as usual THE BENCH SUCKED. The only guy who earned his ing gamecheck was Timmy, we are in trouble heading into this trip.

It's gonna be a of a road trip with the teams we've got coming up. If the rest of the team doesn't get on board on this trip, it will be an early summer. It is gut check time.

Looking at them tonight, I don't even think a trade would help. If we had done the Corey Magette trade, you think he would have helped the Spurs win tonight? I highly doubt that...

Part of the reasons Pop has such horrible rotations is because he has no idea who to go to! NO ONE is playing well consistently for the Spurs, including Tim Duncan. No one is playing with any passion, including Manu Ginobili. No one is setting great plays up for 48 minutes, including Tony Parker. No one is playing smart basketball, including Robert Horry. No one is playing great defense for 48 minutes, including Bruce Bowen.

Look at the Mavs...have they gotten complacent with a 7 game win streak?

Look at the Suns...have they gotten complacent with a 15 game win streak?

I don't care if you have 3 championships and an Annual Rodeo trip coming up in which you usually "turn it around." You shouldn't have to wait for an 8 game road trip to get you to play motivated basketball.
So your point is the spurs are perfectly fine the way they are?? Just curious.

He is too loyal for that if they do go out early in the playoffs which i still doubt will happen i am sure Timmy will implore the FO for change and to spend money in the FA market.

Of course not. I'm saying that a trade is not going to be enough. Spurs need to start changing their game plan if they want to win more games. They need to play for 48 minutes and play every game equally, why they have trouble doing so is beyond me. They need better ball movement, intensity, and an energizer off the bench.

Oh, and it would help if Elson actually learned to play some defense and set decent screens.

Spurs had a big man who played good defense and set very good screens- Spurs fans celebrated when he was gone.

I'm not even kidding when I say I cringed at some of the screens he was setting for Parker/Ginobili.

Also, that one inbounds play in the second quarter, I believe, where Rafer Alson made a shot with about 5 seconds on the clock. Elson was LITERALLY GUARDING NO BODY on that play. His back was to the basket and there wasn't even a Rockets player with 3 feet of him. WTF??????

i give mark cuban the credit for that bit of strategy. it was a great move. not only did we get better, we made the spurs worse(sad but true)
when can you shut up? or at least make a decent post? .

These guys were talking about on how to improve the team, what the problem is, and you are inserting the Mavericks and making jokes that's not even funny.

BTW, Cuban is a loser. Dirk is still a choker. Until you win a le, then you can start making jokes about this team. Behave.

I got blasted early in the season for saying that I had finally witnessed a big man who is worse at setting screens than Nazr.

His D sucks and his rotations suck more.

Everyone gets all excited about him because he can run and dunk. But he honestly can't stay on the floor with how clueless he is defensively.

Pop Rotation Is A Huge Probleme Each At The 4th -10

Actually, I think it's more of the 3rd quarter that he has difficulty with.

In the Dallas game, we had a 10 point lead at halftime. Pop puts in a crazy lineup of Finley, Barry, Bowen, Ginobili, and Oberto or something ridiculous and the Spurs end up losing the lead.

Same thing against the Sixers and Celtics past two games. 3rd quarter he puts in a weird lineup and our double digit lead goes down to single.

Part of the reason could be that Pop really has limited options right now with who to play seeing as Horry and Finley are combined for 34% shooting, Barry can play ZERO defense, and Beno is useless. However, that's why Pop should seriously consider giving Duncan/Parker/Ginobili more minutes and making sure that he always has at least two of them on the floor to give the Spurs somewhat of a constant offense. But he hasn't been doing that....

Did you see I just said that in another thread?

It was always a priority in the past for him to always have 2 of the big 3 out there at almost all the time. And it was very effective. Now he leaves one of them out there alone and the bench isn't good enough to do that.

He needs to get back to that philosophy of keeping at least 2 of the 3 on the court.

Oberto has the opposite problem. He sets great screens and his rotations are also good, but he's too undersized to really be an impact in the middle and alter shots when Bowen and Company funnel players to the middle. Due to Oberto and Elson's inefficiences, Tim is looking worse defensively in the middle and constantly getting dunked on.

Heck, Rafer Alson looked like an All Star tonight against our defense!

I hadn't realized you said that too. Great minds think alike?

The only reason I can see why he's not doing that is maybe he wants to either give them more of a rest to be ready in the 4th quarter or he wants to give the bench more time to produce and grow. I'm thinking it is probably due to the latter, but he could still play Finley/Horry/Barry with any combo of the big three.

That's exactly it! I couldn't even find a way to describe it, but I think you just said it perfectly. It's almost comical to watch.

Although in his defense, I think Elson looks a bit nervous/scared on the defensive end. Perhaps because I'm sure he's gotten more than his share of lashing at from Bowen, Duncan, and Pop.

I think Elson is reading a playbook and forgets what is actually going on... I think alot of Spurs are in this mode.
