I do find it comical that no matter what the team...there are just some fans that think their team does nothing wrong. There are Spurs fans I know that if Manu walked into the middle of the court and took a crap....they would say its no big deal...but if Nash or Dirk or Kobe did it...it would be grounds for a hanging.

Objectivety(sp?) is the rarest thing in sports nowadays.

I agree with that as a sort of intrinsic problem with professional sports these days. It's almost cliched now that when a team loses, it's reasonable to expect that coaches/players/owners will blame officiating or something like that, rather than accepting the fact that the team simply didn't play well enough to win. Remarkably enough, not every team that loses gets screwed by officials -- though it would be hard to tell many nights during the NBA playoffs. Fans do the same thing, whether it's with respect to the causes of losses or the view of things that players do on and off the court. There are certainly exceptions, but they are few and far between.

Bowen stepped on the back of Stoudemire's shoe. You don't "kick" someone with your heel still on the ground. That first angle everyone looked at was inconclusive.

With this angle, you can see that all Bowen is guilty of is stepping on Stoudemire's shoe. Unless he went with the viscous kick-with-your-heel-on-the-ground technique.

PHOENIX -- Phoenix Suns All-NBA center Amare Stoudemire on Thursday accused Spurs forward Bruce Bowen of intentionally trying to injure him during Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinal series.

Stoudemire said Bowen kicked him in the back of his leg as he went up for a dunk with 10:23 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Suns’ 101-81 victory Tuesday night at U.S. Airways Center.

“He’s going to get somebody injured out there,” Stoudemire said. “He has a don’t-care type of at ude and it showed in Game 2 when he kicked me purposely in the back of my Achilles. I almost came down wrong and caused an injury.

“He’s known for doing it. I just hope the NBA and the Commissioner (David Stern) will take a look at that.
"It's definitely a dirty play, and that's something we don't need. We don't need dirty players out there purposely trying to injure someone."



In fact, NBA senior executive vice-president for basketball operations Stu Jackson reviewed videotape of the play and determined that no disciplinary action against Bowen was warranted.

Reports from Phoenix are that it is not coming real well. He has been stuck on "Dunking on the Spurs Best Defender 101" for the past 3 days.

The funny thing is, that all Phoenix cares about is some weak kick to the ankle, when the real story is the fact that Bruce Bowen has lost a step...or three.

Amare, and his surgically repaired stick, smoked by Bowen, whose only assignment was to cover that space.
