Elite XC - Feb 16th in Miami
-Antonio Silva vs Gary Turner (Cage Rage HW le)

somewhat unstable to have the CR HW le fight in EliteXC, but I guess they're all the same since Elite has bought them up...

Its so confusing and I have heard so many overlapping ideas on what they plan on doing.

Ken should fight Fedor. Its right at Fedors current level of compe ion he strives for.

I'm not kidding either. Why not?

    I'ma kick yo ace biatch...

So Shamrock = Lindland? Or Hunt? , HMC would kick Ken's ass...

Do I want to see him fight? Sure...on a CR card...or against Frank...not in the UFC.

I want to see his kid fight more than I do him...

Yeah Ken is a s of himself but he was indeed at one time a very solid and technical fighter. I wonder what he has passed onto his kid. His very very skinny kid.

    Fedor's next fight

In the short-term, M-1 Global pushed back its U.S. debut from February to April. The promotion had the chance to book the United Center in Chicago for Feb. 16 but opted against it as fighter negotiations had not progressed accordingly. April 11 now appears to be the targeted date for either the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., or the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J.

Regardless of venue and date, Emelianenko is headlining the event. As for his opponent, Dutchman Semmy Schilt (Pictures) seems to have overtaken Pedro Rizzo (Pictures) and Jeff Monson (Pictures) in favor with Finkelstein and company. The three-time K-1 World Grand Prix champion made a successful comeback to MMA on Jan. 12 and will be in Moscow the second weekend in February to negotiate the details.

I have no issue with Schilt really as far as being a tough test, but it's a rematch...

Would rather see Rizzo or Monson...

If this kind of matchups are true tests for Fedor then he is somehwere between 20-30 in rankings.

    Which is not the case.

    Schilt
    Rothwell
    Rizzo
    Monson

all about the same test IMO...

I think Rothwell would be the toughest of that group right now...

    Then get Barnett in there...

What would you say if he was fighting Bob Sapp down the road?

I just don't agree. This guy is like a dollar store version of Mirko Filipovic! You have seen him fight the exact same fights as I have. He isn't even remotely close to being a C class fighter. He has been to the big show and failed miserably.

If he fought Monson or Rothwell I would say that is at least a decent test.

Sapp…I honestly do not know. I think he needs a few more MMA fights under his belt but lets say he got 3 more fights under his belt between now and then and he won all 3. Sure ok I suppose.

Why can't Fedor fight Josh? Why aren't they making noise about it? He is out there.

Schilt DID take Fedor to a decision, so he can't be THAT bad...I know he hasn't been successful against top guys (Nog, Barnett, Sergei), but he's still a decent test. I just don't like it because we've seen it before...

Sapp almost killed Nog...gave him one of a fight. I think he could give anybody problems for a few minutes...

When people ask who the premier fighters on in MMA we think of three names…

    Fedor
    GSP
    BJ Penn

    Agree?

If Fedor is on that list why is he the only one who is years separated from compe ion against top talent? There has been talent out there for him to compete against. Its true there isn't a deep pool to pull from but as long Josh is out there is little excuse why he is years away from true compe ion.

This guy took Fedor to the distance nearly 6 years ago. 6 years is an entire evolution of MMA.

If we're talking about one of the, if not the, premier fighters in MMA this is an unacceptable trend in his career.

I think he could give anybody problems for a few minutes...
We should be talking about true fights. This is the BS that is accepted and commonly practiced in Boxing! Boxing!

Mark Hunt a little over a year ago...was in the top 10 and proved he was a worthy opponent in the ring.

followed by a yr f'd up by the sale of Pride and failed negotiations with the UFC. Most of '06 was lost due to hand surgery.

Who knows why Barnett isn't happening now. I'm sure M-1 wants to save that fight for down the road if they can...

Frustrating, but I'm reserving judgement until the end of '08. See who he fights this year and see what happens with Couture.

I will concede for the sake of not bogging down this discussion the Hunt fight as being a top 10 match up.

So that’s 2 1/2 years of mismatches for what is to be the premier fighter in MMA with one true fight mixed in. (Fedor fought Mirko 08/28/05 )

That’s nearly 3 ½ years before he has a possible shot to fight Randy. In 3 ½ years he will have fought 1 legit fight amongst this sea of cans. Here ya go MMA fans, here is your champion! Viva La Boxing style!

What we’re doing here is hinging the legitimacy of a fighter now on a fight that is likely not possible.

    Again, unacceptable.

This would not be an issue if this wasn’t Fedor we’re talking about. The supposed premier fighter in MMA.

The UFC does not do cross promotions with other orgs.

Fedor had a chance to sign with the UFC and declined due to the terms the UFC offerred him.

And for the record I am not venting at LEONARD...just frustrated with Fedor who is being managed exactly like a Boxer.

Boxing was the first sport I loved and I watched it systematically implode on itself with BS business moves so I get my panties in a wad when I see ELEMENTS of boxing creep into MMA.
