This "ordered hit" BS is a stretch. Real big stretch. And I don't know why you'd apologize for something you had no control over. There are assholes in every venue of every sport.

yes but how many fans in other cities would cheer when manu went down after scoring 38 points against your team the next game at home?

There was some. But very little compared to similar situations in the past.
That makes it very hard to explain away the chanting as not being about the injury, then.

Maybe a lot. But the next time it happens, Spur fans will just have to STFU.

My issue was never really with horry to begin with, it was with the fans afterwords.

And my issue is with fans who cheered Bill Lambeeir even being allowed on the basketball court, much less his jersey going up into the rafters, lecturing anyone on any sort of fan etiquette.

Did you cheer when they retired Lambeeir's jersey? He made an entire career out of being a goon, and you guys retired his jersey for it...

Seriously...do you get off on being a hypocrite or are you genuinely clueless that you are one?

Given the flopping that has come from the Hornets this series, West probably did it himself trying to get a flagrant called on Horry. I hope he tastes the pine again in game 7.

When was the last time you saw Spurfans cheering a players injury? They don't do it...to the best of my knowledge, they have never done it. I don't know why you think they'd elect to start doing it on David West.

The Spurs owned the whole Espn, bitter Suns fans, Hornet trolls, the dumb commentators all tonight. Before the game they were comparing Chris Paul to Isiah thomas, during the game all the commentators kept ass kissing every step Chris paul took, they just kept annoying me. And BANG!. Just like that the Spurs started taking over in the 3rd, and they won in blowout fashion. All of the people comparing Cp3 to isiah, all the people praying the spurs lose, the commentators butt kissing paul, the people at Espn who you can clearly see were rooting for the Hornets all got Owned. Lets Go Spurs come through in Game 7!

that's what we're trying to figure out. It looked like they were cheering David West's injury. If they were then that's BS, but since we don't have that type of history it's water under the bridge now IMO.

Maybe AT&T fans saw a Spur put a hit on somebody, instead of the other way around as it has been throughout the previous five games, and decided to voice their appreciation for him.

Did they think West was seriously hurt? Probably not. Jesus, after every bit of contact these days, most players fall down and stay down a long time - including some Spurs players. Fans probably though West was trying to sell it.

I'm telling you...they were cheering Horry for putting West on his ing ass...the first time all series a Spur has put a Hornet on his ass. And they want to see more of it...and they were cheering Horry for being the one with the balls to say this is how you do it...

It was obvious that even if West was injured it wasn't because Horry put some kind of dirty hit on him...and they were simply letting the dude know they appreciated his play. It completely sets the tone for the way the Spurs need to play to beat these ing dudes....just like it did last year when he put that shot on Nash.

It's as simple as that...it was an exhaltation of relief over a Spur player with the necessary at ude...it had jack to do with the severity of West's injury...

When you see San Antonio cheering a guy getting horse collared or a knee popping...then get back to me on their etiquette...until then, if you don't cheer Spurs players knocking the crap out of someone well within the acceptable limits of game play...then don't be in here calling them out/calling them pussies soft etc, when they lose becuase they don't play that way.

I doubt so. I heard Horry chants long after West had been taken to the locker room.

The crowd chanting Horry was a little bit weak but I don't think that it was just because West was down on the ground. It wasn't like Seattle in the playoffs when the Sonic fans cheered Duncan twisting his ankle and then booed when he got up. If the Spurs fans were cheering West's injury, they probably would have booed when he stood up.

The sense I got from the booing was the Spurs fans were just tired of the Spurs getting pushed around and were supporting Horry's "hard" foul. The Hornets have been the trash talking, in your face clapping, dead ball flopping, dead ball hacking team all series long. How many times has Parker been nailed? How many hard fouls have players like Bonzi Wells administered? Compare that to how many hard fouls the Spurs had before that Horry foul. Did the Spurs even had any?

I think Spurs fans were just tired of the Spurs getting pushed around. If West would have popped up, I still think the fans would have been cheered for Horry. The fans were glad the Spurs showed they weren't going to get bullied out of this series.

It wasn't the classiest thing ever for Spurs fans but seeing how Spurs fans are always overly nice to injured players and how the Spurs have faced the wrath of other teams cheering injuries, I don't have too much of problem with the fans cheering a hard foul. It's pretty difficult for me to hold the Spurs and Spurs fans to expectations that no other team or fans meet.

I'm down for knocking heads and busting balls. On TV it doesn't look like the Spurs are getting the worst of it except for the first couple of games. I think Bonzi pretty much knows Ime would bust that ass.

It's pretty difficult for me to hold the Spurs and Spurs fans to expectations that no other team or fans meet.

Hopefully Kurt Thomas, Matt Bonner, Ime Udoka et al were paying attention and that knocking someone on their butt won't get you a condemnation from Spurfans...but will instead earn their cheers. Because those guys need to hear that...

Seriously...so much is made of the Spurs class etc, that players actually feel obligated to play with one hand tied behind their back and by a different set of rules, just to live up that standard. And it hurt the team in the post season on more than one occassion.

The message they were sending to the Spurs players is more important than any message they were sending to David West....not that West gives a damn one way or the other. IT's not like he's going to start sucking if we boo Horry or something.

Me? I'm more worried about what Robert Horry and the other bigs think than I am David West...props to the Spurs fans for letting the players know they can play that way and not get a mass condemnation from overly and incorrectly self righteous fans.

    Pretty pathetic. Classless. No excuse.

And don't give me no about Hornets fans cheering Chandler when he blew up Parker. 2 wrongs don't make a right. Be better than that.

Hopefully it's just a stinger, and be better for game 7 .... if not, you can expect to hear all about the *

At least it was a clean play. No sane person can argue there was any sort of intention in the injury. Don't need to go through all that again!
Which would mean that because it was not an intentionally dirty play there would be no need for an asterisk. And as far as the crowd, AT&T Center fans are no dirtier or classier than any other group of fans around the league. And its all in the interpretation anyway. One could easily say that the crowd was chanting Horry simply because he made an effective defensive play. Not because West fell down in a heap because of an already aggravated back injury.

And let's put the shoe on the other foot. Don't think for a moment that the New Orleans crowd would not relish the thought of a Tim Duncan or Manu Ginobili going down after taking a shot from a Hornet. Hard fouls are part of the game, especially intense playoff games and because of that I see no need to apologize for an excited bunch of fans who were simply caught up in a very exciting moment.

Thats what Spews do. They r Dirty. Horry knew West was hurt and he hit him from behind. West had no defense. Its dirty.

Spews donot deserve benifit of doubt. Especially Bowen and Horry. It is what it is.

I'm telling you Spew fans. You would get respect if u just stop fighting it. Spews are who they are. Detriot Pistons of the late 80's early 90's knew they were dirty and people respect them for honesty.

I got over Robert Horry sticking a dagger in our backs in 95.
I got over Horry flat out leveling Tony Parker from behind in what WAS a dirty hit in 2002.
I got over Horry trying castrate David Robinson in 03.

I can damn sure get over him knocking the crap out of David West...and Spur fans cheering him doing it.

    In fact...I enjoyed it.

If you guys don't think David West is going to be ready to play for game 7...you're delusional. In fact I would not be surprised if he faked the entire incident...just to set the Spurs up in game 7. It certainly wouldn't hurt the Hornets chances.

These Hornets flop, they decieve they trick.....inexperience my ass, these dudes already know every trick in the book... them. Kick their ass...

First play of the game I hope Kurt Thomas jacks West's ass up, and I hope he continues to do it every time West even thinks about calling for the ball...put that ing back to the test Kurt...I'll be cheering you doing it. Be sure to try and catch some kidney while you are doing it

Classless for supporting Horry on putting a Hornet on his ass to make a statement? Are you ing serious? Fans had every right to be chanting Horry. It's about ing time somebody did that on the spurs and their fans were sick of watching them get bullied around on the court. Hard fouls are part of the game and there is nothing wrong with fans supporting that.

What is even funnier is this is coming from a ing Piston fan. You would know about classless fans. After all they were the reason the heated moment between Big Ben and Artest turned into a court brawl. When a large group of spurs fans do anything remotley close to that physically or verbally, then come back and lecture us about how pathetic and unclassy they were.

Until then shut the up you stupid son of a .

    I loved the Detroit Brawl...

Jermaine O'Neal became one of my heroes for a brief time for knocking that one dumbass the out. I think I still got the gif on my computer.

I actually thought Ron Artest was the victim there...except for that part where he tried to kick the wrong guys ass.

That said...I don't particularly like the Pacers and enjoyed watching them get mass suspensions for it...deserving or not...after all, they won 60 something games and swept the Spurs the previous season.

Horry, Horry, Horry, Horry, Horry, Horry, Horry, Horry!!!!!
I was damn glad that a hard foul was dished out instead of just the Spurs receiving them. But....... it is just a game after all, and I don't want to see anyone seriously injured. Horry did not hurt West and it wasn't even a hard foul from looking at the replay. West was playing injured. I didn't see any kid gloves on for Manu when he played injured. Or maybe while Duncan was sick during the first game, the Hornets should have been nicer
