“So stay tuned. More town halls, more debates, more talking about the things that matter,” the anti-woke former New York Times op-ed writer declared.
However, based on the soft ratings from the Kirk event, one wonders just how much appe e the network’s leadership will continue to have for Weiss-led television specials.
According to early numbers from Nielsen’s Big Data + Panel measurement, the one-hour CBS News town hall – which aired on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET – drew 1.548 million total viewers and 237,000 in the coveted advertising demographic of viewers aged 25 to 54.
If these ratings hold (Nielsen will release final numbers Tuesday afternoon), the Erika Kirk sitdown declined 27 percent in total viewership compared to the network’s standard programming in that time slot year to date – and was down 47 percent in the key demo.

Weiss fails to realize she wasn't hired because she was good on-air talent or even talented at anything save mindless heterodoxy.
Weiss's social skills, which are formidable -- sucking up to celebrities, rich and influential people and so forth -- maybe do not translate to TV ratings.
The editor in chief not having the skills to do the show is normal, maybe the network execs will manage to get her head screwed back on straight on that point.
Weiss was a not very distinguished journalist, the idea that she is well-qualified to be a TV host seems ill-founded.
But maybe all that matters is having the power to hire yourself as a host.
Yeah, I doubt ratings and revenue really matter too much for these particular shows.
I'm starting to think they should drop the pretense of trying to hang onto CBS News prestige and lean into their real audience's insanity -- e.g, the person who they really wanted to see interviewing Kirk is Candace Owens.
And she's available.
