Even Pop has a legit GM. What's with this people thinking moderately successful coaches don't need a second opinion? Stan has been absolutely horrible. Of course, you had that RGM thread talking about how great of a job he did

Why can't Boban stay on the floor? I assume it's defense. He rebounds and he does have some offensive skills. Or at least he did. Haven't seen him with Detroit.
Boban costs too much, but he is the greatest garbage time player of all time ...
How would Boban or Baynes make the Spurs any better?
If Boban takes Parkers minutes?
If Baynes plays for LaSoftus?
These are the typical re ed responses I expect when I see these kinds of re ed threads. These kinds of worthless threads should be locked as they are part of the reason this place can not be taken any kind of serious.
I think he's done fine with some of the minor moves like Baynes, Ish Smith, Jon Leuer, etc, but it's the major moves that have been puzzling IMO..he accelerated their franchise's road to being a middle of the pack team with no future..I was going to give him credit for drafting KCP, since he looks like one of the best role players in the league, but I don't even think that was SVG..
I don't know why they signed Boban, either, when they already had a crowded frontcourt(trading Baynes, I guess?)..
Drummond's lack of impact and development has killed them, too, though..he barely has any impact on the game outside of rebounding nowadays..
Drummond hasn't been the same since that iCarly chick left him. I think JVG has done a good job at slightly overpaying useful players, which is better than not having useful players at all. But he ended up with three centers making like $40 Million combined and two combo-forwards making more than $20 Million. I mean look at this roster:
It's so god-damned hideous, and it's totally capped out. , they could be in tax territory next year.

Maybe losing Dwight made him so paranoid that he got three centers just in case. Someone forgot to tell him the NBA doesn't use centers anymore.
I'd trade Manure for both
LMAO
You guys are making Chucho mad.
We could be a 70 win team
Don't sugar coat it, got. I'm ing fuming.
That Detroit roster has a very serious problem. They don't even have a couple of terrible contracts to shed, so you'd see a road to make things better. It's full of players overpaid for what they produce, top to bottom and they're on their way to max out KCP in the summer too, making things even worse. Being capped out for years in the current climate for such a low ceiling roster is incredibly bad.
They're not developing their younger players either, Johnson has gone backwards and not sure what the point was to draft Ellenson either.
That said, if teams can salary dump ty contracts like Miles Plumlee's, then there must be a light at the end of the tunnel
Can we fit Anderson in that trade too?
Aron Baynes is awful. Pistons fans hate him now.
Boban was doing abysmally, but in Dec-Now he's been doing better. I wouldn't want either's contracts, but Boban wouldn't be awful or anything.
Both contracts are bad. Pass on both of them.
Boban is a joke and what we have now is better than Baynes. Detroit F8cked up.
How about Sefolosha for Anderson, Simmons and Forbes?
Which bigs do you cut to replace with one or both of them? LMA? Pau? Lee? Dedmon? Bertans?
Everyone.
Just to add to the discussion about how poor SVG is at the GM role I'm going to throw in this quote he have in an interview on the topic in November. They guy thinks that Baynes is grossly underpaid....I'm kinda stunned...
“Now he’ll make about triple next summer of what we’re giving him,” Van Gundy said in November. “We won’t be able to re-sign him, but the critics, who always know, killed us for overpaying him. Right now, we could trade him to 29 teams in about five seconds right now at what he’s making. So I don’t think we made too bad a deal.”
He thinks Baynes is worth $18M??
Bertrans and Dedmon are both better players and their salaries are a lot lower than Baynes or Boban. Would not be an upgrade for the Spurs to make a move for either of them.
