Nocioni was pretty damn bad last year. He turned into a ballhog offensively and he didn't play defense. I used to really like him but last year it was scary seeing how bad he was.
That said, I'd probably still take him but I don't see how a trade would work.

It's ok, the Spurs will offer him $73 million dollars for one season. Just like the Athens Gyros offered to Scola this summer.

To get Nocioni, the Spurs would have to get pretty inventive. It'd require something like:
-San Antonio receives Andres Nocioni from Chicago
-Chicago receives Matt Bonner from San Antonio
-Golden State receives Thabo Sefolosha from Chicago and Michael Finley plus two second rounders from San Antonio
Finley would have to sign a three-year, $12M contract with the only the first year guaranteed. Golden State would have to actually want Sefolosha (or some other cheap talent on Chicago such as Tyrus Thomas) and be willing to eat the $4M Finley would be due.
The trade would trim around $7M from Chicago's cap and give them room to re-sign Deng. And the Spurs take on the long contract of Nocioni.
Pretty damn unlikely but that's the type of trade it'd take for the Spurs to land Nocioni.

I might be wrong but I beleive Chapu was injured last year. Not to mention EVERYONE in Chicago played horrible last year. I am sure this affected Chapu's play.
In a good environment he is a true BEAST. See Argentina National team.
But I do agree Maggette is a player who creates own whot and is faster and more athletic than Nocioni. On the other hand, Chapu is a proven clutch winner. tough call on who is better.
He was injured the year before (in 2006-2007).
AFAIK, he was healthy last year.

no! When you have guys like Maggette, Pietrus, Smith, Azkubuike, R.Mason, Posey, Childress all out there on the free agency market, why would you even consider it?
Nocioni wuold help no doubt... but Maggette > Nocioni

Nocioni plays defense 10 times better than Magette and he's stronger. He is a better rebounder, passer and 3 point shooter.
Magette is faster and can create his own shot out of the dribble constantly.
Not going to happen. Bulls will ask something like Udoka+Thomas/Oberto and a 2nd round draft pick. They need to reduce the payroll but they aren't Memphis.
Before last year, I would have agreed. But last year Nocioni didn't play defense nearly as well as usual. I don't know if he was banged up or just pissed about being on a bad team but his defensive effort wasn't there. Last season, Nocioni's main concern when he entered games was firing up as many shots as possible.
Regarding rebounding, Nocioni is historically better but last year he didn't rebound nearly as well and was pretty much equal to Maggette in that category. Considering Nocioni played a lot of minutes at power forward, I'd say Maggette had a better rebounding year.
They are both sub par passers. Nocioni has never had more assists than turnovers. Maggette has ... but not consistently. I'd say they are about equal in that category.

The Bulls might be prepared to dump Nocioni for nothing. If Golden State offered to eat his contract, I'm not sure whether or not the Bulls would bite. They need money for Deng and Gordon and it seems like Paxson has started to figure out that having 45 small forwards on the roster wasn't the way to make the playoffs.
Maybe he saw how pathetic and lifeless his teammates were and figured he had to do it himself. Whatever it was, your right. Dude was a black-hole on offense last year.
I saw your 3-team trade proposal and it got me to thinking about Sefolosha again.
Can you see any way (if Maggette falls through) we could pull Sef. ala Hedo in a 3-team trade?
Last year Maggette was 5th among Small Forwards in PER ranking.
Nocioni was 35th..... just amongst SF... so yea he was pretty terrible.
But when hes focused and playing to his capabilities.. he has intangibles Maggette doesnt have.
But Maggette is what the Spurs need, and in any case hes simply a better basketball player....
Last season... and every other season before that.
