Since you brought up The Player, might as well have probably the most famous opening sequence ever:
Orson Welles is one of the greats. You can certainly see his influence on Altman.
All of these videos are just holding down the fort for The Dark Knight, which will have the best opening scene of all time.

A lot of good ones have already been mentioned. This one came to mind because I remember how great it looked on screen in a movie theater.

Can't beat 'Saving Private Ryan' but I thought the beginning of 'Old School' was downright hilarious. I'm sure there's a lot better ones I can't think of. Maybe 'Pulp Fiction' would be considered.

It wasn't really the opening scene, but the part when they were dealing the coke was the best part in the whole movie besides playing that kickass techno song, "Push it to the limit".
