Any body like Green......6-7 wing player who looks smooth at times.

How many players are allowed to be brought to training camp?
So far I would like to see Ian, Hill, Gist, and Tolliver. Green has done some nice things as well, but not sure if he will get a chance in TC. Tolliver is equally a longshot. Hairston has not impressed me at all.
I am interested to see who emerges from the group at the RMR.
When is that? Will it be on the internet like these vegas games were?
doesnt it start in a few days? and i am not sure if it will be on the net. i couldnt get the feeds from the Vegas games to work.
it happened yesterday
That's right! All aboard the James Gist train!![]()
none of the above....hill and ian are not even 3rd options off the bench yet...gist isnt ready, he wont be able to take enough minutes to learn how to tie his shoes from any of our real players....so far i dont see anyone of the SL roster that can play in the nba..
Summer league rater:
Gist
Mahinmi
Tolliver
Green
Hill
Powell
Hairston
Right now, I think Gist, Mahinmi and Hill make the Spurs roster. The rest of the players mentioned probably get camp invites and an opportunity to play for the Toros, if they don't prefer Europe. Although, the suggestion makes some angry, there is a good chance that Gist, Mahinmi and Hill are assigned to the D-League at the start of the season.
Don't think so. I am not sure that Pop will want to have 4 rookie equivalents on the roster. Typically we haven't carried a full 15. Assuming only 14 would make our roster complete (assuming we resign Thomas)
Duncan, Oberto, Thomas, Bonner, Mahinmi, Gist
Bowen, Udoka, Mason, Manu, Hairston
Parker, Vaughn, Hill
Rather, I expect that only 3 of the 4 will be signed, with Mahinmi and Hill pretty much safe due to guaranteed contracts, and Hairston and Gist fighting it out. Unless Hairston really start blowing up, I see
Mahinmi, Hill, and Gist making the roster, and a further FA signing. Depending on where Pop thinks Gist fits on the team (the 4 or the 3), the FA will either be a wing or a big. Currently, I say Gist counts as a 4, and we sign a wing; I am currently hoping for Ricky Davis on the basis sheer talent (of the remaining available)...
Yes, hoping to sign Ricky Davis is indeed !

Lol...probably after game 4. I think a lot of us are just excited because this is the type of player we have been needing for a long time. A 6'9ish player who could come in at the 4 with Tim at the 5 and attack the rim, defend and rebound. I too am really pulling for him.
Tolliver has an outside shot if he, well, keeps the outside shot.8-13 from deep is pretty good for a guy his size. Showed the ability to get on the offensive glass in game 3 too...something we really need. If he can continue to do these things well lets get him in a uniform in the preseason and see how it goes.
Its up in the air for Hairston. Another young swing would be gravy and he has shown improvement from game to game but its hard to say whether it will be enough to get him a roster spot. I am sure we will see him in camp and the preseason...so its probably going to be a wait and see thing.
I think so.
Currently under contract:
1 Parker
1 Hill
1 Vaughn
2 Ginobili
2 Mason
2/3 Udoka
3 Bowen
4 Mahinmi
4 Bonner
4 Duncan
5 Oberto
So that leaves 4 roster spots. One will go to Thomas or another big and another will go to an swingman, both for the active roster. Then there's two spots on IR (and with the Toros) for Gist and Hairston.
are YOU kidding me??? Ricky Davis as your star without even considering Azubuike?![]()
Marcus, why do you think the Spurs will carry 15, rather than 14 and running the D-League shuffle all season? I'm not really sure which way they'll go, but last year's 14 plus a rotating D-Leaguer might have set precedent. Do you think that approach was one and done?
That was last year. MWilliams didn't cut it so they were able to do that.
Okay. I understand what happened last season. My question is why won't they do the same thing with Hairston this season? I'm not trying to be snarky, I'm asking myself the same question.
Maybe he'll show more than Williams between now and the start of the season. They're not going to waive a player and try to get the Toros to sign him if they feel he's really worthwhile.
If the Spurs project Gist as a wing in the NBA, then I could see them not signing Hairston and instead going with more of a classic 4/5 man on IR. IR would look like:
1 Vaughn
3/4 Gist
4/5 whoever
But I don't see Gist as a swingman. I can see them carrying a swingman prospect like Hairston on IR next season.
I think all the draft picks and Mahinmi make the team.
Gist will get the 12th spot, Hairston goes to Austin, Hill and Mahinmi play vital bench roles.
I think Hill regains his shot and then Spurstalk backs away from the ledge.
Gist with the 12 spot? That would be awesome.
did not pop say spurs were signing finley
I'm sure Hairston and I hope Green, Tolliver and Powell are invited to training camp and get a little scratch so they can stay in the states for awhile.
Hairston is improving, but right now I see his getting waived and picked up by the Toros. To early to write that in stone though.
I guess we'll see if the Toros could manage to get any of the promising SL players on their squad like they did with Langford last season. Tolliver and Green's rights will likely be retained by LA and Iowa respectively, but I can't remember if anyone picked up Powell's in the expansion/dispersal draft.
