We're allies with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The terrorists of 9/11 were of Saudi descent. No Iranians. If you go to Iran, the people will treat you with the upmost respect.
This isn't supposed to be a political forum. But two seasons ago I was a consultant for an Israeli security firm, and living just outside Tel Aviv. It's a different perspective. Whatever you think about Bush, Iraq, etc. is beside the point. Ahmadinejad is a hate-filled, bloodthirsty, ing lunatic. But he's smart, and he plays the media propaganda game very well.
I have some very good friends who left Iran and live here. One, who was on their Olympic wrestling team, translated Ahmadinejad's speech for me. And, yes, he said that Israel should be wiped off the map. And, yes, he thinks of the U.S. the same way, for being their ally.
The players on this Iranian basketball team may be good guys. But as representatives of a country where Ahmadinejad is president... 'em. Every victory an Iranian team gets, that bas uses for propaganda and political sabre rattling in his own country. Even if it is the Mavs, I hope they kick ass.
Edit: To the Arab world, he says things like "the Holocaust is a myth", and "Israel should be wiped off the map". He claims that Israel was really responsible for 9/11. Then he turns to the West and says that there is a misunderstanding due to imperfect translation. And the very sad thing is that many Westerners believe it, because they don't want to believe that anyone is that full of hate. And he thinks we are idiots who will believe anything.

They probably will use the victory as propaganda, but why does it matter? Their games on U.S. soil are getting very, very little attention. I didn't even know about it until two days ago. The Iranians will probably get their asses pummeled in the Olympics.
