    The timing of Tolliver's signing has nothing to do with being better or worse than Gist.

    The Spurs don't really need to do anything about Gist or Hairston until September if they are staying in the states, but they usually wrap up their signings in August. Tolliver could have signed with any other team in the meantime.

    I am all for Gist being a Spur; we have not had a player like him in a long while. He will bring big energy off the bench like Ginobli; just he will do it on the defensive end. The Spurs are probably waiting to sign him after SC and pre-season to see how he can fit in with the current roster...if he plays his cards right I can see him being on the Spurs for a long time.

    I'm all for signing Gist. the spurs need a high energy athletic player who can block shots and score off the break and Gist is that player.
