We no longer require discussions of issues, it's all about who's wearing what (Obama-no flag pin, McCain-$520 shoes), what endorsers are saying (Obama - Wright, Ludacris; McCain-Hagee), what spouses are doing (Obama - Mic e's "militancy"; McCain - Cindy's drug use), etc. This type of coverage is easy to digest and doesn't require much thought.

McCain should run as McCain, that's my point. He's not basing his campaign on himself; rather, his campaign, thus far, has been about Obama. McCain doesn't have to do this. He is an impressive candidate. From his actions as a prisoner of war (refusing release until others were released) to his ability to reach across the aisle (McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy), he has a good narrative. Instead, he's decided to engage in partisan hackery. I don't get it.

There was a recent article in the local fishwrap where 15% of Americans couldn't consistently tell their right hand from their left hand - so I'm not surprised at all that 1-10 Americans still believes that Obama is a closed muslim....

My inside Hollywood sources have hinted that Britney Spears is in discussions with her legal team about a possible lawsuit against John McCain for the unauthorized use of her photo in a recent political ad.
