I disagree. The best game I've ever seen out of Bryant against the Spurs was game 4 of the 2004 series. Dropping 44 on Bowen is a lot different than scoring 45 on Antonio Daniels and Jerome Kersey. Our team sucked in '01, but the '04 Spurs were a legit championship team that should have at least made the Finals. The Lakers were dying in that game, they were down 10 at the half, and looking at going down 3-1 with the next game in SA. Had Bryant not gone nuts the second half of that game, there's a pretty good chance we get the repeat in 04.
    I didn't watch the 2004 game 4

But that sick Kobe follow his own shot tip dunk on DRob and Timmy was sick (plus, Elliott was playing him tight when he took the initial shot)
    Was it this one?

The Laker strategy after game 2 was to collapse on Duncan and Parker. One was always double teamed. SA got a lot of open three pointers to get an early lead in game 4, then the strategy worked the rest of the way.

Oh, and I think Detroit would have beaten anyone in 2004. The late season acquisition of Rasheed Wallace was pivotal.

According to most Lakerfans, Detroit won the le only because Chauncey Billups got a lot of free throws.

Hmm... wasn't aware of that lame excuse. Rasheed played very well when he hit MoTown and the team clicked on all cylinders.

First time I heard that excuse. Only excuse i heard from us Lakers fans is that Karl malone wasnt playing. I dont even remember Billups shooting much free throws. You might have lakers fans confused with Mavs Fans and Billups confused with Wade...LOL

Already have it on my HD, in addition to his 65 vs Portland, his 62 vs Dallas, his 56 vs Memphis, his 48 vs Sacramento in the 01 playoffs, and his 45 against us in the 01 playoffs.
    You're an idiot.

I can't say I've heard that excuse either. Most of the fans I spoke to admitted to Billups totally dominating Payton.

I have to say the 2001 playoff game vs. the Spurs was Kobe's finest moments as a player, imo. He was just as Shaq described his performance that game,..Phenomenal!

"he was just on fire" - that's all the guy had to say? dude got 81 on your team...on fire is getting 40 points...get 2 x 40 + 1 = more then on fire...kobe literally had an epic night!

I cant belive people actually try and discredit Kobe's 81pt game.

Anybody that discredits Kobe's 81 point game is just a hater...that was pure basketball brilliance.

    There's room enough to go around for DRob's 71 points, Wilt's 100, Kobe's 81.

Kobe, Shaq and Duncan are the 3 most dominant players of this era and we've been blessed in being able to watch all of them dominate in their prime.

It has also been great watching Vince Carter, The Admiral, AI, Grant Hill in his prime, Chris Webber in early 2000's, Reggie Miller...and I'm probably missing a bunch
