honestly, i would rather start kidd, and not because hes a maverick, but because he does more dirty work, plays better defense, and doesnt need to score to be effective. i would rather have deron off the bench as a spark guy, especially considering you already have the 3 best scorers in the entire world starting (Kobe, Lebron, Wade)

i disagree. he might be quicker, but thats about it. he isnt stronger, smarter, nor is as good at getting steals by both playing the passing lanes well and simply ripping the defender.

and with the zone defenses, the quickness is not nearly as much of a factor.

yup. he got some rebounds, dished some assists, and played some defense. exactly what he was asked to do. btw - why does he need to score points when he has the 3 best scorers on the planet starting alongside with him, as well as one of the most freakish athletes ever to play the Center position? Kidd fits the starting lineup perfectly. besides, how come we dont hear about Kobe or Lebron prasing Deron or Paul? However we have articles and interviews about how much they enjoy playing with Kidd and what all he brings to the team.

Kidd should be 12th man on that team (ie. only playing garbage minutes), and Paul should start. Kobe should come off the bench for his selfishness.

No-one is scared of the USA any more, and it shows on the court. USA vs Spain or Argentina should be a great final.

Because he is not as good as Paul or Williams. I never debated that. I just said, for the starting lineup of guys like Kobe, Lebron, and Carmello, Kidd fits them more, because they dont need a scorer. They need a distributer, and defender. Paul and Williams are great distributers, but fact is, some of their distributing abilities also depends on their scoring abilities. No PG in history has been able to distribute the ball so effectively with such a limited offensive skill-set as Jason Kidd, which is what makes him a special player.

The USA will not be able to use their athleticism to overpower the better teams. We need to shoot better, plain and simple. Kobe was flat out awful, but those are the shots he must hit if we are going to win this thing.

thats what the bench is for. why do you think explosive PGs like Bobby Jackson and Nick Van Exel are so effective? When the main guys are having a hard time, then bring in an explosive scorer to change the pace.
