Me! And a damn good choice.
Well....you would make McCain appear younger, so that's a benefit to the ticket.

ray, this post should have been in blue

Well after The Messiah's gaff yesterday, Biden as next President and Biden's gaff: Barack America, I wouldn't be such a bad choice.

Yeah, it was such a horrible gaffe. How can the campaign ever recover? I am now convinced that they can't.

Well, you would make Biden appear to be well-spoken, so that would be a benefit.

Naw, it will be okay. McCain didn't do it, so it is just talked about in
passing. Nothing much else will be said about it.

But I am hurt you wouldn't vote for me.....

I don't think he'll go with Romney now. I think he'll go with Gov. Tim Pawlenty for the common man feel.

I have a really sincere question. Does it really matter who he picks. It really doesn't matter who The Messiah picked, cause like old VP Garner said. Being VP is like a bucket of warm spit. Who really cares.

I think it could matter. If McCain gets Powell or a woman on his ticket, that could really undercut the notion of a history-making ticket on the Democratic side. Plus, a woman on the ticket may be just enough to convince disgruntled Hiallry supporters to back McCain. Having Powell on the ticket would insulate McCain from any allegations of racism and may take some of the Black vote from Obama.

That was before King George picked Cheney to run things and no VP in history has had more power than Cheney. King George has made the VP a very important position.

Man I don't envy McCain's position at this point. Obama probably picked the strongest VP candidate in the field and I don't see a way that McCain can match it with a relatively weak group of potential running mates.

Guys like Pawlenty and Jindal would certainly be fresh, but I don't think they're well enough known on the national stage. Virtually no one has talked about Huckabee since he dropped out and some of his more bold ideas would surely draw criticism in the general election campaign....though I admittedly like his genuine approach.

I guess the guy to go with is Romney....bleh. I specifically targeted Romney in the primary campaign as someone I would NOT vote for. He lacked the genuine appeal and didn't really have a substantive talking point....except to say that he made money and to criticize everyone else.

It'll probably be Romney, but I didn't vote for him out of principle...I went with Huckabee.
better ticket if biden was on top
obamba even introduced biden as president so he thought biden should be pres over hmself too

Cheney's expansion of VP powers is limited to serving alongside a President who gives him the leeway to do it. At the very least, I think VP selections amount to very little in terms of the election. Consider this, the greatest pwnage in VP debate history:

...which didn't amount to jack squat as the Bush-Quayle ticket went on to win the White House in '88.

There's absolutely no chance in Powell will join McCain.

Maybe if Hillary was the democratic nominee, but even then it would be a long shot.

Powell is not a politician. Its a shame too considering he's on of the most respected men in America.

Romney would strengthen the Mormon vote for McCain, but might alienate others. His pick is probably more important than Obama's because he is so old. A lot of people are going to seriously look at his VP as a possible guy to fill in just in case McCain has to step down for medical reasons.

Are Americans comfortable with a Mormon president?

I think he should pledge a one term presidency and pick Lieberman.

Lieberman would cost him the Christian vote which is a huge voting block. I would go with an unfamiliar face.

So Christian Republicans wouldn't vote for McCain if he had a Jewish VP?

If he picks Lieberman, he will die in office and Lieberman will start WWIII. Thats the worst case putting Lieberman in a position of possibly running this country.
