Knowing how to play the game and playing the game are two different things.
Like it or not, no one candidate is going to get into office and "change Washington". Sure, there will be some different initiatives that are pressed based on the candidate elected, but there's actually a better likelihood of that taking place if the person knows how the game is played.
Experience in Washington D.C. does count for something. Having said that, picking a candidate with fresh ideas that can work with the system to get things accomplished counts for much more.
I honestly think both McCain and Obama have the ability to work within the system to get major components of their agendas/platforms pushed through.
