Damn, that was tasty. But you could almost feel yourself getting fatter as you eat it.

We have the LJS/A&W here in Austin too, but I haven't been in ages. Guess anything gets old after a while.

But those A &W places aren't the original ones right? I saw one at a mall or something and they had mainly hot dogs; not like when I was a kid and they had those yummy burgers: Papa Burger, Mama Burger, Teen Burger and the Baby Burger

I believe I've seen the Food Court chain your talkin about, and they did seem different. Mostly just dogs and snack food, like you said.

But the A&Ws, at least here in Austin, do the classic burger thing, and have A&W on tap in chilled mugs. I'd actually have to put the Bacon Papa Burger as one of the better fast food burgers I can find in my area.

They're usually tacked onto another franchise, like LJS or I've seen some A&W/KFCs....but they're still around.

The LJS by Ingram Mall closed down about two years ago. I noticed the store at San Pedro and Basse closed down as well.

They did have a baked cod, corn, and cole slaw for the lighter side. Always loved eating there but didn't as I got older since it was so much batter.

Here is my take on the situation. I detach the seafood idea from LJS. It is just LJS and sometimes you feel like eating that.

I feel the same about Taco Bell. People say that Taco Bell is crappy Mexican food, especially in a town with a lot of great Mexican restaurants. Well, I don't consider it Mexican food, I consider it Taco Bell and sometimes you feel like eating that.

Same with Bill Millers. There are lots of great barbeque joints around. I don't consider it barbeque, it is just Bill Millers.
