Please don't make me look up Nightline transcripts. The agenda to invade Iraq was first established by a pre-emptive strike plan written over a decade before by Perle, Cheney, Wolfowitz, and Rumsfeld. They just didn't have the support, opportunity or political justification to implement it until 9/11. I can't think of the name of the report to Google it, but it's pretty much identical to the do ents that were used in the post 9/11 planning.
    Don't confuse Chumpy with facts..

You are confusing the Plan for the New American Century memo with an actual military operation plan -- Op Plan 1003 to be exact.

Op Plan 1003 was an invasion plan formulated in 1996 and updated in 1998 as a contingency plan for an invasion of Iraq, should it be necessary. The Pentagon has these plans developed for most major potential areas of conflict.

After 9/11, Bush ordered Donald Rumsfeld to update the plan for invading Iraq again. Rummy charged Tommy Franks with the task, forcing him to greatly reduce the number of troops initially called for to reflect Rummy's ideas for a leaner, more risk-taking armed forces.

If you really want to know about prewar planning and buildup, read Plan of Attack by Bob Woodward and the first part of Fiasco by Thomas E. Ricks. They will tell you more than Nbadan would ever want to know about what really happened in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq.

I certainly agree that members of the Bush administration wanted to invade Iraq before 9/11 -- but the decider didn't decide until after that day.

dubya's first Commerce or something secretary said he was ASTONISHED to hear dubya talking about Iraq in dubya's very first cabinet meeting in the weeks after inauguration.

The PNAC/neo-c*nts, including McBottomGun, decided to go after Iraqi oil in the 90s. dubya was the perfect shill/front-man/tool/puppet to the neo-c*nt puppetmeisters. dubya's decision to invade Iraq was made for him, not by him.
