I did not like the path Bush has taken this Country but I believe he is sincere and want to get the out of Washington asap.
With his legacy in ashes, with many people considering him to be one of the worst presidents and administrations in US history, dubya is trying to salvage something. A few nice words and gestures at this point will not in any way offset the damage he has visited on us all and on future generations.
Anybody who thinks dubya, or McNasty, can display graciousness and magnanimity, with sincerity, at this point is ridiculously naive.
dubya started a ing bogus war on false pretenses, which caused 100s of 1000s of deaths.
McNasty ran a slanderous, nasty campaign. Both incredibly damaging to the USA and world.
Nobody forced them, it was their choice. Actions have consequences.

dubya talked about getting Saddam in his first cabinet meeting. He knew exactly what the PNAC/neo-c*nt agenda was for Iraq. All they needed was pre-text and they're allowing 9/11 to happen gave them them perfect pretext.
Any suggestions that dubya didn't know what was going in invading Iraq are simply ludicrous.
The incompetence comes in, not from him personally running Iraq, but from head, rummy, neo-c*nts who assumed Iraq would be a pushover and troops pulled down to 30K by Sep 03.
dubya also knew he was profoundly, dishonestly exploiting the 9/11 paranoia to ram through all kinds of unrelated that Obama must address.

You're not going to get me to defend Bush (I guess I already did a little but not intentionally) I see the difference you're making and I can agree to some point. His reasons for going to war, as personal as they may be, were approved and supported by most of the country and congress. The blame is mostly his, but not only his, and I think it’s ridiculous to make the statement that was made earlier in the thread. I think you and I agree more on the topic than we disagree.
Dumbya wanted to be the "war president" and nothing was going to stop him.

There's no way to absolve dubya for lying his way into a bogus, unnecessary invasion of a country that had not attacked USA and was no immediate threat.
Obama was fortunate that this sort of discussion was not common on the national scene during his campaign. Democrats did a pretty good of keeping their "Bush is a Nazi Cannibal" opinions from overshadowing Obama's positive message. Perhaps they learned a lesson in 2004 after all.
