i have another concern, i know pop is a hardass, but i dont necessarily agree with him when he benches hill after every mistake for long stretches. the next time hes out there hes not going to want to make mistakes but more importantly hes not gonna want to make a play to avoid mistakes. this could be a possible reason why no one else on the team wants to shoot the damn ball.

i know its hard to balance winning and play efficiently against wanting to give hill some experience but i think most people agree that hill has a better skill set then vaughn and has a higher chance of contributing more despite the fact that vaughn in a veteran.

at the end of the day im not pop and i dont have personal relationships with any spurs players so i'll trust pop on this one. afterall we won so its a concern but its nothing to go crazy about.
pop just wanted georgie to see what NOT to do in crunch time and what better way to do that than inserting mentor vaughn for the final 5 minutes of a close ballgame.

our inbounding..what the is going on here? 5 second violations, turnovers..every inbound coming down to the last second of the 5..it's getting ridiculous..it shouldn't be such a problem for us..
Wouldnt make much of it. It happened some last season. We watch the Spurs alot so we see their mistakes but, they're no different then the other clubs. Call a timeout, set up a play, and then cant get the ball in or, turn it over. Little things that can make the difference in close games. Maybe because we're paying so much attention these days, is why some may just now be seeing it.

Duncan is a fantastic inbounder, I like taking notice of those sort of little things. Duncan is an incredible outlet passer and as always, it's done in the most fundamental fashion, two hands above the head. Robert Horry is probably the best inbound passer the Spurs have had and one of the best post feeders I've ever seen.

It's kind of tough because you would like to have Duncan as the inbounder, but it robs the Spurs of there tallest target should the need arise to lob the ball to beat the clock.
    I second that.

Horry was very good at inbounding because of his size and court-vision.

I'm sure Duncan could be as good as Horry was but that would leave Oberto/KT as the only post options and it would be to easy to defend this setup for end-of-game plays.

With Duncan in the paint on an inbound play the defense is held accountable and cannot sag off on the perimeter to bother the spurs shooters - and because TD is so good at directing the offense from the post it leaves another option for an open 3.

So it's pretty much what O_V said. When Parker and Manu are back, Duncan will inbound. Works for me.
But with Manu and Parker in the game, they are so quick and elusive that it almost doesn't matter who's inbounding the ball because one or both of them will find a way to get open.

Finley's gaffs stood out dramatically, but execution down the stretch was shaky on every play. I think the biggest culprit here was the fact that it was the third game in four days for an older team already depleted by injuries. Tired legs, tired brains.

The best solution is DON'T ALLOW FINLEY TO INBOUND THE BALL ANYMORE - EVER!

Why Pop continue to tempt fate, is beyond me?

Finley's inbounding problems started earlier in the season when he missed both Mason and Duncan wide open for game winners and instead threw it to Parker who had to shoot an off balanced three.

Yet Pop just keeps letting him inbound . . .
Good point, and right you are. Finley needs to be on the receiving end.
