calling me a "little " doesn't change how ignorant your statement was. In actuality I respect you as a poster and consider you generally knowledgeable, but this was one where its clear you just don't like the guy.

I gladly admit I am emotional about many things in life, including coming to Matt Bonner's defense when he is unrightfully ridiculed by poster after poster. Especially for being "boring," when the reason we have four championships is one damn "boringass" player named Tim Duncan.

Has no one noticed that once he got some consistent PT and a few shots to fall, he immediately became our second best big? Pop relegating him to the bench for long stretches of games when he's rusty and missing rotations wasn't the right move. I always said (search if you want) that with PT, his rotations would be improved. Whaddaya know? We get hit with injuries and flat play by the other bigs, he gets a chance, and now he's doing better than ever, ESPECIALLY on defense. Timvp has even said his speed AND strength on D has been something special since he got out of Pop's early doghouse session.

His stroke is looking better than ever, as well. All I ask is you understand WHY he was inconsistent, which had very little to do with his abilities and instead, with Pop's hardnosed doghousing.
I've got nothing against you, but you started with the hostilities so I replied in kind.

There's always going to be a mul ude of opinions on something as subjective as this, but I think he is just now starting to get confident in the system in his 3rd year. To me the fact it took that long reflects on his lack of personal self confidence. There was a reason he landed in Pop's doghouse, and this isn't the 1st time he's had some PT in his Spurs career. Either way, I hope he stays consistent where he is at and contributed to the team over the course of the season and playoffs.

Tim Duncan plays into the boring label the media gives him, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't view himself that way. He knows he's exceptional and has the confidence that comes along with that. Bonner has looked like a scared puppy many times until this recent stretch. Big difference.

Prediction: Bonner will continue to play well and will be traded with Udoka just before the deadline for a big who rebounds and blocks shots. This will happen because Mahinmi will fail to deliver. Hairston will be kicking ass in the on the Toros and will be brought up to replace Udoka.

    Book it.

Because they are both "shooting bigs", it will be interesting to see the season-long battle for playing time between he and Tolliver.
Im gonna root for the one who costs us less like the FO does. So lets go AT. Ive already seen what Bonner brings to the table. Hes great when we play sorry teams or we're behind and need desperate points. But as a team defender his feet stay glued to the court. And that doesnt help anyone out. Mostly the big man under the rim name Timmy. Whats crazy is Matt is outplaying Fab and Kurt and alot of people want to trade him. All in all a pretty big mess with the bigs on this roster. Exactly why Pop doesnt have a solid role for a center yet. You gotta have a center in order to make a role for him to play. Sooner or later it will happen. I just dont believe our FO is happy with our current centers play. These guys produce a handful of rebounds with less then a handful of points between the both of them.(fab and kurt). Unexceptable.

I wish he was telling his sad story on some other team. His giant body doesnt help out our giant bodys one bit. He has the body of 4 or 5, but plays like 2 or 3. I do hope he continues to play good. Thats the only way we can trade him. And Im pretty sure thats what lies ahead for him. I just dont see Bonner in the spurs future. Not when its a big body we need to rebound and block shots. To this day even thou he can hit that 3, he is lost out there when it comes to playing team defense.

Pretty much apparent you haven't watched a game this year one bit.

It would have been better if Bonner had finally turned the corner earlier but he never really was given much trust by the coaches. A lot of that is on him for screwing up the chances he was given, but at the same time he always had Horry looking over his shoulder, who didn't seem to do much mentoring. And that the FO was grooming Bonner to be the next Horry did not seem to help the situation.

Yes, I do think Bonner has had confidence issues but that isn't something particular to him. A lot of role players have confidence issues because they're never sure when they're going to get to play. He just needed to be put in a situation that made him feel comfortable. I guess this was it.

With the way Bonner is now playing I'm not hearing too many people calling for Horry to come out of retirement. Nothing against Horry but he made the right choice and Bonner and the team are better for it.

Apparently he doesn't understand the entire reason he's gotten PT in the first place, which was managing to stay out of Pop's doghouse just long enough to nail some key 3's and improve his rotations.

Also, to say his feet have been glued to the floor is just ridiculous. Do you even watch the games Purse?

I don't know if we're watching the same bonner play, but the one i've seen play recently has been playing pretty decent next to tim.

Ya know, Bonner hasn't been anywhere perfect in his career here, but Pop's blind trust in Horry and his benching of Bonner for correctable mistakes is what I have a problem with. Bonner isn't going to ever block 3 shots a night or score 20+ consistently, but he can do many things to help the Spurs.

he's just a roleplayer, but he fits in a niche that could really help us Win. And isn't that what matters?

I know you all didn't see Bonner split 2 defenders with the dribble the other night.

I enjoy reading the article. Bonner is a funny guy.

spending Pop's time & patience to develop his game then trade him to our opponents. What if he turns out to be like Hedo? (Or Rasho?)

I wish you could give him some time to contribute and chance to see if he fits in with this team. From the way I see it lately he's improving and finding how the systems works

Feb is still a long journey for him to prove his worth & to talk about trade.
unless of course you think there's somebody out there who's cheap and plays like DRob at the same time
