some misconceptions here..I lived in Canada for a few years, so I still follow the Raptors and watch most of their games..

Bargnani has been a solid player this year..he still has consistency issues, but he's now a solid defender and is an improving rebounder..not worth a #1 pick, but a solid player that is showing a lot of signs..

Jamario Moon is a terrible player..he's not a good defender in any way other than getting occasional steals and blocks..he only shoots well from the corners, he doesn't use his athleticism to his advantage at all, meaning he RARELY drives to the basket..he doesn't help us..

the only player on the Raptors roster that would fit on our team and help us win now would be Joey Graham..the Raptors are showcasing him right now and he's much improved from last year..the problem would be finding somebody to send them, as we don't really have anybody that fits their current needs, which is a consistent wing player..we aren't going to trade Manu or Mason, so there isn't another option..

Duncan/O'neal frontcourt would be killer if JO would stay healthy for at least a full season

If they wont part ways with Bosh or Oneal. Then they have noone of interest. I personally dont want another Euro player headed off to play in some championship game after our season has ended. It doesnt help the Spurs one bit. And the world knows Im right. If anything, it hurts our ball club. And we're living proof of it.

The need for a long 3 is vastly overstated on this board.

When the main compe ion was Dallas/PHX, we needed hybrid 3/4 that could used in a small ball line-up/match up with Dirk/Amare/etc.

With the Lakers/Hornets/Jazz being bigger threats, the need is more legitimate beef along the front line.

On the wings, we're looking at Manu & Mason (or Finley or Bowen) being on the floor at the end of games as is. Yeah, all things being equal you'd rather have a 6'9 guy at the SF than a 6'6 guy - but for the Spurs purposes, it really doesn't matter that much.

There's only a handful of big wings in the league that can really make you pay for not having a guy like Ariza to match-up with them - and even then Bowen can usually hold his own against most of them.

before people jump on kapono know what kind of contract he has. i cant say with 100% certainty but i think its 4 more years MLE status. when the raptors first gave him that contract i remember struggling to comprehend how overpaid he was.

Kapono is useless on our team..we don't need more shooters..he can't create for himself effectively and he's one of the worst defenders in the NBA..

I never said I thought that a long SF was our biggest need. I just said that he was the one guy I wouldn't mind having. Hes on a cheap contract and fills a role that we've long been looking to fill. I realize that a long 3 was more important when Dirk and Amare were the big problems. But Odom is still to be considered at least a slight issue.

I do agree, though, that another big is our main need.

The Spurs are playing well enough that I doubt any of these trades would help them. Bargnani is playing better this year, so maybe a Thomas for Bargnani trade would help, but I doubt it. I'm not sure what the motivation would be for either side, unless the Spurs thought Andrea could play SF.

I say pass on the Raptors.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Spurs go in an aim small, miss small trade for Vaughn, leaving the rest of the roster in tact. For example, Marcin Gortat intrigues me. He's buried on Orlando's bench, but if swapped for Vaughn he could play for the Toros in a trial run. I've only seen a little of Gortat, but he looked liked a rugged rebounder and natural shot blocker when I watched. I'm not sure why he doesn't get more burn. Gotta be a reason.

I hear you. It wasn't so much a direct response to you as it was to a consistent belief on this board. It's like we've been obsessed with the long 3 for so long - we've never stopped to ask ourselves, "why?"

The only way to get 60 games Jermaine is to trade either Duncan or Manu AND Tony. Otherwise, his bloated contract would probably require the rest of the roster to be shipped out. No .
