I would rather them trade Manu, if they can get equal value or close to it. Bonner's shooting ability and hustle has been underappreciated his entire career. I have no doubt if they were to trade Bonner, they would not be getting equal value in return, because he is so underrated. Obviously not an all-star or close to it, but he is a damn fine NBA player. How many 6'10" 240lb big men do you see splitting a double team with the dribble? I can't think of any off of the top of my head, and yet I saw Bonner do that already this season. How many NBA players will play as hard as they can every night? Maybe a handful, he is one of them. DO NOT TRADE BONNER.
That statement sullies any other points you could possibly make. Why would you want Manu traded now?

At this point, he's more valuable than Nesterovic would've been and makes less than half Rasho's salary... so it turns out that that trade was a wise one. It seems Bonner's main problems in the past few years have been confidence and aggression on the court, and it looks like he is addressing both of those issues more successfully this year than in years past. I like what he's doing, but would still like to see the Spurs add another big body before mid-season. Right now, my favorite would be Courtney Sims of the Iowa Energy.

bonner has been playing well but i think he still lacks the mental toughness to compete in the playoffs. spurs should hold off until around the all star break just in case bonner decides to have hedo turkoglu moment, going from mediocre to great. he's definitely earned a third/fourth chance to prove himself but i'm still doubtful he will emerge in the spurs' playoff rotation. bonner hasn't been playing well enough to demonstrate that he's clutch.

i think he'll be a great addition to a playoff team in the east. if bonner fails to make another leap, i will be happy if the spurs trade him for an expiring contract and a first/second round pick. would give some luxury tax relief next year if the spurs decide to use their MLE.
Forget about bonner ever going from being a mediocre player to being great.

Trade him as soon as possible if possible to land a solid low post contributor.

Here is a list of possible trade partners for the Spurs and Bonner.
    Chi - Tyrus Thomas
    GS - Brandon Wright
    Mem - Hakim Warrick
    Mil - Charlie Villanueva
NJ - Bonner and Vaughn for Najera and Ryan Anderson
    Por - Diago or Outlaw
    Sac - Sheldon Williams

While none of these players come close to the outside range of Bonner, they do provide and upgrade athletically and defensively.
    what about shaq? or amare?

actually now that i think about it, waiting until the all star break may be too long. re evaluate him at the end of december and trade bonner if he doesn't show more signs of improvement. buy low sell high.

Simple. Because in a couple of years from now, he will be worth next to nothing. He relies too much on quickness. He is turnover prone. Overdribbles and tries to be "the man" too often. That said, I love Manu's game and what he has done for the Spurs, but if we can get something like Aldridge and Martell Webster for him, I would LOVE that deal for the Spurs. Oden is a pipe dream, but he's really struggled. I'm wondering if they would take an established veteran all-star like Manu for him at this point, they have WAY too much youth. No question, if they accept that proposal, you make that deal. Bigs like Oden don't come around often.

Is Pop playing Bonner so much to strengthen his trade value a little down the road? It seems like this team doesnt need a jump shooting big man, as much as they need a workhorse down low to help out timmy.
This is what I think initially. But since Matt is proving his value as a Spurs, we may as well keep him.
