in two years time i see the following Spurs line-up

    Tony Parker
    Manu Ginobili
    Devin Brown
    Louis Scola
    Tim Duncan
    --------------------------------
    Bench
    Beno Udrih
    Brent Barry
    Bruce Bowen
    Robertas Jovokotas
    Rasho Nesterovich

Notice all but Rasho, Barry, and Bowen were drafted by the Spurs. I have the feeling that Jovokotas (I have been doing a lot of reading of him latel, and like what I see) Will be fully recovered soon and will be a very good energy man off the bench. I do not see the Spurs re-signing Nazr due to his heavy price-tag in the open market, any center who can rebound and score 10 a night is going to demand more than we would have the money to pay. That doesn't mean he won't be good here.

All in all doesn'tt hat speak wonders for the drafting prowess of our front office, because that looks like a championship team to me!!!
I think it's a little bit early to predict that Scola and Javtokas will make a big difference. Scola is unproven NBA talent, and even he's a little undersized for a power forward. His game has been compared to Malik's by many - he does a lot of the little things and he should hustle. He probably won't be as good defensively as Rasho, so it's hard to see him starting over him for a coach that values D like Pop does.

As for Javtokas, he won't be 'fully recovered' in the sense that he will get all his hops back. He used to be an athetic freak, but it doesn't look like he's ever going to be the player he once was. He's been solid but unspectacular this season. I wish him the best, but it's still not anywhere near certain that he'll even play in the NBA.

I also agree that Devin will be gone. He's going to command some dollars and playing time eventually, and it's just hard to imagine in today's NBA that Pop would start Manu and Brown together. I simply can't imagine Devin defending some of the bigger, longer threes in the league. He may stay, but don't be shocked if he leaves for more money and a better opportunity to showcase his wares in the offseason.

We'll see what happens. With a core of Parker, Manu, Duncan, Rasho, Barry, and Beno locked up for a few years, things look good. The role players will find roles.

Devin will have to play SG to continue to progress. And that position is taken here for the foreseeable future. I don't think he will want to be a career backup without at least a shot at a team where he could win a starting job.

No way does Devin Brown ever start at SF for us for an extended time. Beno will get more money to go elsewhere. Devin Brown hopefully wont even be around....

    PG-Parker, TBD
SG-Manu, Barry, maybe Sanikidaze (but I think he is 3 years away)
    SF-TBD, Bowen
    PF-Duncan, Scola
C-Mohammad, Nesterovic, maybe Javotkas (we'll probably deal him if we lock Nazr up)
