Spurs deserved to lose tonight, they got jumped on and didn't respond ulitmately and there was nothing that Malik would have done except add 5 or 6 more turnovers.

    LET GO YA'LL LET GO
    Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    No question.

Malik Rose is the PERFECT cover for Brian Cardinal. He's built to take on Cardinal on both ends of the court. Cardinal hurt the Spurs with seven boards and three steals, playing the pesky role that Rose played for the Spurs. His stats weren't pretty, but he was one of the main reasons why the Grizzlies won.

The Spurs production from the bigmen outside of Tim Duncan was horrible. Rasho Nesterovic played good defense, but he seems to forget that there are two sides to the court. The Spurs can't win if they have to play four on five on offense.

Robert Horry right now shouldn't be playing. He's limping and can't jump or move side to side. I'm not sure if he's injured or just on cruise control waiting for the playoffs, but he doesn't deserve any minutes at this point. Tony Massenburg has regressed to the point that he's not worth playing either.

That is where Rose would have come in. He's 100% heart and energy and that is what the Grizzlies used to beat the Spurs. They didn't knock down a lot of shots, they just competed and gave a lot of effort. The Spurs were lacking that, especially from their bigmen.

If you watched that game and have the nerve to say the Spurs wouldn't have won that game with Malik Rose, you don't know Spurs basketball.

    Point blank.

Want to see the stat of the night?

In 9 minutes Malik Rose grabbed 8 rebounds 4 offensive.

In 46 minutes! Rasho, Horry and Massenburg combined for 7 rebounds 3 offensive.

He did that against a front line that won 62 games last year...while our guys put up their numbers against a 7 seed that was playing without their two best inside players.

Spurs fans could try to blame this loss on turnovers, but the truth is it never should have come to that. The Grizzlies had two bigmen -- Wright and Cardinal. That's it. The Spurs should have dominated them on the boards and the game should have been over by halftime.

But no. The Spurs lacked energy, rebounding and Cardinal was hurting them by playing like Malik Rose would for the Spurs. Without Gasol or Swift, this shouldn't have been a contest.

But when you neuter your bigmen rotation, it's tough.

The Spurs probably would have also beaten the Grizzlies if they had Nazr Mohammed on the floor.

They were short one big man. Horry was the only big who really played off the bench and he contributed nothing.

Close...no Artest or Foster. Plus J.O. got hurt mid-way through the fourth with a knee to the ribs. But from what I heard, Rose looked ok tonight.

What's Pop waiting for then? Play Nazr. Don't tell me he's going to baby Mohammed like he babies Rasho.

Most every other player who was traded played right away. Instead Pop went to small ball, even though the Spurs were getting killed on the inside.

    Niiiiiiiiiice.

Yeah...I saw that with O'Neal...I didn't realize Foster was out though and I think of Artest as a 2 guard.

    As for JO...

Hint: Don't set hard picks or get too physical with Stephon...he doesn't like that and usually ends up inflicting more pain on the payback. He took Duncan down once too.

But I thought JO got hurt with a little over a minute left in the game.

My favorite play of the game was when Tim Duncan had a clear path to the basket and was going in for a layup ... but was foiled when Rasho came over to post up right in his driving lane.

Pop should have played Nazr and gone with some type of zone set while he was out there. The Grizzlies aren't going to beat you from the outside and everyone knows how to operate in a zone. Going small wasn't the answer.

If Nazr is worth Rose and TWO first round draft picks, you'd think he'd have played basketball once or twice and could have figure it out.

You are correct. There was barely over a minute to go and the Knicks were up by 8.

Foster was out the previous game with back spasms. Indy hasn't has used 17 different line-ups this season. I'm not sure when J.O. got hurt, but I know it was during the fourth...I only saw the highlights on ESPNews earlier, but if he hadn't gotten hurt, they would've beaten the Knicks.

The Knicks had been up by 7-16 points all throughout the quarter. He got hurt with 1:06 left on the clock when the Knicks were up 8. They wouldn't have won with him.

Spurs would have beaten the Grizz if they would have worn stick-em on their hands. 23 TO's? Not even Malik could have helped that!

i guess we weren't there mentally. maybe we would have won with Nazr, but we all know we still were supposed to beat the grizz with or without him.

    Exactly.

Basketball is basketball, not matter the proclaimed complexity of the system. I can see the benefits of teaching Nazr from the sidelines, but games still have to be won and throwing a man into the game immediately on arrival could do wonders for his confidence and mentality at a new club.

We needed a big man, we could have played a big man.

Don't forget that the Spurs lost against Memphis WITH Malik earlier this season. Just be patient an give the Spurs some games till we can say if it was a good or a bad trade. Horry is hurt and Massenburg played 4 minutes. Lets what happens on monday...

Why did Malik only play 9 minutes?

I think Devin's costly turnover's down the stretch is what cost the Spurs the game.

Now if we also play with what’s inside our shirts -- and inside our heads – things can go our way.

BINGO!!!!! Nazr hasn't even played yet. I think he should have last night but that one is on Pop. Malik is a super guy but not the saviour of the Spurs. Come on now! We were all sad to see him go but he is gone. How bout getting behind this team and giving them our support. Favre was a superstar even when his father died but evidently this team does not have that mental capability. If this poor effort was due to Malik leaving or just a protest, it doesn't matter. It's a loss either way and we have to look to the future. I prefer to think this team will respond in a big way and Nazr will be a part of it.

Funny, we lost an almost identical game WITH Malik Rose to Memphis earlier this season. The main two reasons SA lost this game were that they settled for too many outside jumpers, and turned the ball over too many times. Malik helps neither of those causes, and in fact would probably feed right into them. His big forte is rebounding, and SA already won THAT battle, 46-38.

    Bury the hate, LJ.
