I feel bad for my Dirky right now. I get a sense hes really frustrated with the situation, but hes a standup guy so hes not going to quit on this team.

No, he quit on the team a year ago, which is why they had to decide between Avery and Devin Harris. And not only did they choose wrong, they then replaced Avery with a moron who doesn't understand simple things like rotations and how to distribute minutes to his players.

So if Dirk didn't give up on the Mavs a year ago, we'd still have Devin Harris and maybe a coach with a brain (not Avery but it sure as isn't Carlisle either).

Carlisle's a good coach that has had success anywhere. That Avery failed with this team and Carlisle seems to be having trouble is a reflection on the roster, not necessarily the coach.

The team has too many holes and has had for several seasons to be able to pin it one thing.

The incompetency of the FO is why garbage like Breath and Diop are signed to hefty contracts, why Erica and Terry were so hard to move, why Avery wasn't fired right after GS, and why there is still no low post scoring and no quality SG after years of being burned at those positions.

Agree. I can't really blame Carlisle this roster has flaws and holes... he doesn't have much to work with.

Carlisle's the one playing Devean George nonstop and keeping Gerald Green on the bench. Carlisle's the one forcefeeding it to JJ Barea when it clearly doesn't work. Carlisle's the one who puts guys like James Singleton & Shawne Williams in the very difficult position of either not playing at all or playing 30 minutes a night. Carlisle's the one who can't manage Dirk's minutes properly. Carlisle's the one who refuses to play Dampier despite the fact that he's actually playing decent basketball for the first time ever.

The players decide the games but Carlisle is giving them ZERO help.

a trade needed to happen. the trade itself can't be deemed all that terrible unless Devin Harris wins a championship in New Jersey.

the terrible part was the fact that the Cuban/Donnie had to choose between Avery and Devin, and instead of making the right choice immediately, they dumped Devin and THEN fired Avery. THAT part was the terrible part of the trade.

    I'll buy that.

I'm starting to miss Devin now... but I don't think his skill and Kidd's skill is the difference between mediocrity and elite.

I think Green will start getting more PT though. He's very raw but the energy and scoring is nice.

I can't believe our beloved Mavs are 22-16 right now. The product I see with my eyes tells me I shouldn't be surprised, and although it appears our window was closed in the offseason I had much higher hopes than this. I was incredulous that many experts had us pinned for 44-46 wins, I thought we would get 50+. But they appeared to be right. We'll see though, go Mavs I guess

Mark and Donnie are ing delusional that's why.

Last offseason was critical to try to salvage the Kidd trade and instead they give a 5 year contract to Diop.

Kidd is shooting 29% from the field in January, only shot 36% from the field in December, and has only made 26 of his last 92 3PA's. What do you guys think this is? Fatigue? Decline? Slump?

Frustrating. If he was just shooting at his career average of 40% I bet we would've won 2-3 more games than we have.b

Dirk's a of a scorer when he's thinking about putting his head down and going to the rim, even if he doesn't do it every possession.

He doesn't get many calls though, and the fact that he isn't a high riser doesn't help him either in those situations. Plus most teams play him with smaller guys which makes it harder to drive against. But in big games he does attack very well. Dirk is the least of this team's problems, if anything he is playing as good as always. The problems are elsewhere.

his drop off in production coinsides with Carlisle's love for putting the ball in Barea's hands and playing a 3 guard lineup that takes away what Kidd does best

I hope TD will join Mavs in exchange for Dampire and Stuckhouse then Dirk will earn himself a ring he deserves, of course TD will also get his fifth ring to fit all his five fingers.

He doesn't get many calls though.
He probably gets more calls than anyone in the entire NBA, especially considering how many times he settles for jumpers.

He's averaging nearly twice as many free throw attempts per game when he has three days' rest. If that's not indication that it's more about his aggressiveness than the officials, then I'm not sure what will convince you.

Like many aging, over-the-hill, starlets of the past, Dirk manages to fire on all cylinders every now and then. When he doesn't, which is most of the time, the mavs have no one to step up to the plate. It does not look very good for the mavs.
