Haha I actually did b/c I didn't really watch after Spurs lost due to Manu's gaff. But that Heat team they faced was actually pretty decent -- they had Shaq, DWade, GP (I think), Zo, Haslem, Posey...so I wouldn't put that entire series loss on Dirk. I would actually put some blame on AJ for not making adjustments to DWade's superman act.
But if you do want to compare recent playoff stuggles, we can just go back to last year when Manu did his own disappearing act...injury or not that was not clutch at all.
Of course, when making a trade, you want to sell high, and Manu isn't that high right now. But, when he is high, no one wants to deal him. I just don't see us winning against the Lakers with our current cast, considering they have so many players to slow Manu. Sho would they use to guard Dirk? Odom? We'd have a three point parade.
I also think putting our faith in Hill as The Man wouldn't be too bad of a proposition when we still would have Mason to spell him at times. I don't even want to go the Vaughn route but he would still be on the roster. I really think this trade, even though we give up a lot, would make us pretty formidable up front (necessary to beat the best in the West). I think we can take some risk considering how well Mason and Hill stepped up when we needed them earlier in the season.
