Fire Porter!
C'mon Kerr, I'm not getting any younger, you er.
Fire Porter.
Xylus, settle down on Kerr, little to none of this is his fault. We are stuck with Porter until his contract runs out, regardless of whether or not Kerr wants him fired, there is no way Sarver will fire him and keep paying his salary.
For all we know, Kerr had to settle on Porter because Sarver gave him a certain annual amount he was willing to pay the coach and was unwilling to pay more for a coach like Avery Johnson.
Porter's doing a fine job for his Suns this year, not his fault the players suck and the owner is cheap and left him with a roster.
How come every "underachieving" team pins it on the coach? This is a players league after all. Yeahhh, can't blame it on Porter that Amare is scoring 5 less points this year despite 3-4 more minutes. I'll take Porter's Bball IQ over Amare's any day of the week.
Yeah... not Porter's fault his players play with no heart and are incapable of being great defensively.
The offense is still there, it's not as good as it was during D'Antoni's reign but its still there... the players are heartless and play no defense, that's why theres that many losses (23).
So yeah... Porter may not be the best coach, but people said Doc Rivers sucked before last year as well. What happened? The Celtics got good players and won it all, its a players league. If it was a coaches league Pop and Jackson would win it all every year, but they dont. Even then, they needed Duncan, Kobe/Shaq, and Jordan/Pippen.... yeah there are no Duncans, Jordans, or Shaqs on the Suns right now.
Also, Avery Johnson sucks but won a le in 2006.
Get over it.
I have, just stating a fact, and making a point about how coaching is an overrated aspect of basketball.
Avery has beaten Pop in a series and Doc Rivers has beaten Zenmaster in a series... as did D'Antoni.
A coach can take a team to great heights, but only if the pieces are in place. They aren't in PhX.
I agree to some extent, however the issue of Porter vs. team clearly can't be thrown under a rug anymore and needs to be addressed. It's not like a team where the players and coach get along but just isn't performing, there's a clear inability to co-exist between the players and coach.
I say get rid of the coach and players, but most people are saying dump Porter and keep the players.
Sarver needs to quit his job, the coach needs to be fired, and Phoenix needs to have a firesale. Trade Shaq, trade Amare, trade Nash and stockpile on young talent and draft picks.
Endure 3-4 50-60 loss seasons in pursuit of the next superstar coming out of college.
It worked for San Antonio, it's gonna work for Cleveland, it's the reason Orlando seems to have a bright future, and its the reason Boston had assets to make its Fake 3.
The chances of becoming elite are usually greater when you're really bad than when you're mediocre.
Short term bad for potential long term good.
Quite frankly, a lot of teams should follow the same route but the goals of a franchise are usually more complex than winning a championship.
The best 4 teams in the league now... Los Angeles, Orlando, Boston, and Cleveland... the reason they're all elite now is because at some point in the past 5 years they were completely irrelevant.
Cleveland needed a 17 win season to get Lebron
Orlando sucked, got #1 pick, got HOward
Boston was irrelevant for a while allowing for assets to acquire Fake 3.
Lakers had 3 very mediocre seasons... but it did result in the drafting of Bynum... the Gasol trade was a fluke anomaly though.
The Suns aren't completely irrelevant, they're squarely mediocre. And it's hard to get better when this is teh case
A team can go from elite to mediocre to bad then back to elite.
But a team rarely goes from elite to mediocre back to elite.
Phoenix needs to expedite the process now.
The Suns wont fire Porter because they would have to eat his contract. They want him to quit.
exactly. That was the reason they didn't fire D'antoni when they wanted to, o and they wanted to make it seem like they wanted D'antoni back when anyone with half a brain knows they forced Mike D out of town.
Can we fire Sarver, too? Because, really, he's the entire reason we're in this mess to begin with.
Yup.
Kerr is nothing more than Sarver's middle man keeping the media questions away from Sarver and he's also used as Sarver's Sarver's puppet. Almost none of the moves made since Kerr's hiring have been under Kerr's control.
Rudy Fernandez charity - Sarver's decision
Alando Tucker - who cares? It's not like that pick was extremely important
KT & 2 first round picks charity sale - Sarver's decision
No point in continuing this song and dance. Blaming Kerr is exactly what Sarver wants everyone to do.
I just hope he's not preparing to move this team to Vegas.
True. Its obvious Kerr was instructed to make most of the moves he's made.
He did approve the trade for Shaq, however. Thats something I still cant get over. I thought Oneal was BURIED in Miami but they were able to dump him off to Phoenix.
In essence, Phoenix is paying for Miami's le.
That was a good trade for the Suns, and it's getting annoying hearing people talk about Marion 4 Shaq like it was what killed the Suns. It's not like the core of Marion, Amare and Nash was going anywhere anytime soon.
Incase you didn't notice, O'neal is in the all star game. Marion's body and game is falling apart and he's barely a starter these days.
