At least Marion's contract comes off the books after this year. Anyone know what Banks is getting paid?

Too much. He won the Bill Simmons least valuable player award in 2007.
Marion doesn't really help Toronto, other than from a financial standpoint..he'll help them continue to compete for a playoff spot, but his true value will be as an expiring contract..they'll try to improve the team before the 2010 off-season to entice Bosh into staying with the team..
good trade..
I just listened to Ric Bucher on Sportscenter talking about this trade.
He said the Miami desperately wanted someone who can score in the post and they were convinced O'Neal is healthy enough to play.
Also, the Heat felt Shawn Marion didn't fit in their system (what's a surprise!!) and were ready to move him.
Lastly, Ric mentioned that Kobe Bryant was the 1st half MVP. But that Tim Duncan should be mentioned in the conversation. I was shocked!!![]()
Ric Bucher also said that he thinks this O'Neal for Marion trade is going to be the biggest "big name" trade of the trading season and no other big names will be moved, only other name being talked about being Vince Carter. Hmmmmm no Sheed talk? Damn it! lol.
Maybe it's just me but this big favor Phoenix supposedly did for Miami by trading for Shaq wasn't really a big favor since they just traded the two players in the Shaq trade for a player worse than Shaq but gets paid more.
That Sheed deal will be hard to do for the Spurs. I know about that thread in the Spurs forum up to 18 pages or so.
I would be shocked if it happens!
I could see Brad Miller trade happening before Sheed though.
I think Miami got a steal here. O'Neal will help a bit, but Jamario Moon is a real gem IMO.
Contrary to the assumption here, I think the intent is for Marion to stay in Toronto. He is EXACTLY what they need alongside Bosh and Andrea- a small forward who can defend and rebound.
In essence, Toronto traded Rasho and TJ for Marion (via Jermaine)-- which is precisely what they tried to do directly with Phoenix before.
But would Toronto be willing to extend Marion for anywhere near what he thinks he's worth. Despite his obvious decline and limitations, I think even $10 million a year would be something Marion wouldn't accept. I think he's worth maybe $24 over three years at this point. But, if Colangelo and the Raptors want to really extend Marion, they will likely have to go higher than that. I guess it might depend whether there's another sucker team that goes after Marion as well, which might be unlikely.
Good trade for both teams. Toronto is out of the playoffs and they get a big expiring deal. Miami gets 2 players that should be able to help them right away. Beasley gets to move into Marion's starting spot.
So basically, Miami has traded Shaq for Jermaine O'Neal + Moon. How does this help them?
It got them Michael Beasley.
I think they were in last place when they traded Shaq, so it didn't even get them Beasley.
What a steal for the Raptors.
J.O has always been injury prone throughout his career.
Miami will regret trading Marion for this toothpick.
NO NO NO
damnit marcus banks
You're an idiot.
Toronto gets
Shawn Marion
Marcus Banks
Cash considerations
Miami gets
Jermaine O'Neal
Jamario Moon
1st round pick
$4 million trade exception
Why is it you feel the need to type everything in bold?
of a deal for Miami. They actually could be a pretty solid team this year, now.
To those that are saying O'neal sucks, damn, I would love to have someone else on the Spurs to give us 14 and 7 every game. That's not bad for sucking.
LOL right
If JO can stay healthy, him and D-Wade will make a good run in the east..JO is still a top 10 Center in the NBA when healthy. Good trade for Miami.
