There's a difference between eating salary and lux tax dollars . . .
Yeah, if other options fall through and the Spurs are desperate ... RJ is a good fallback option as long as Holt is willing to get his hands dirty.

I think RJ for the Spurs along with the big 3 is >>>> than VC. I have long wanted this guy at the SF spot. He could be deadly.
That is what I meant. They are going into the lux tax if they are going to do a deal like this. I just do not see another way around it. Unless it is for Sheed. But VC, Salmons, RJ all will require lots of $ tied up in 4 dudes.
RJ is going to the Blazers. the Spurs rumor is the way of the Bucks to put pressure on the Blazers and meybe to get more for him.
RJ to the Spurs would be fantastic, but the Spurs doesn't have enough value to give for him.
Hard to see a way to make this work without Horry jumping on board. And since someone has to bring it up, if the Spurs do decide to put together a deal with the Bucks, don't they kinda have to ask for Elson too???
Also, if Manu is seriously injured, that rules out any trade that involves Mason imo.
Will thist thread reach 40 pages?![]()
I like Richard Jefferson. He could be the newest recruit in our "Sign with the Spurs Get a Ring" Progam
Deal.![]()
And if Portland is offering Outlaw it's a no-brainer.
with all due respect to the players, why would anybody be interesed in our 8,9,10,and 11th rotation players? especially if they don't have expiring contracts?
why would the Grizzlies be interested in Kwame Brown?![]()
The Bucks want t dump RJ badly. They could care what they get in return as long as they're expiring type.
TIMVP or anyone, what is the most the Spurs could sign Horry to?
We are NEVER this lucky when trading players
Let Holt eat some tax dollars...I saw Jerry Buzz chewing luxury tax any day and he didnt seems to care about it as long as his team got winning chance and kobe smiling. But if Holt is cheaper than him (which i think he is,instructed Bufford to cut budget) than I got nothing more to say...its not my money anyway. But this is opportunity that if we missed it will took another more year to gain it back, but once cheap will always stay like that..
Nothing to see here...again.
the numbers problems aside, there is one point about Jefferson, that is very intriguing. compared to other discussed wings (VC, Salmons) Jefferson has a big size advantage. I don't know why he is sometimes just listed at 6'7'', he measured 6'7''1/2 without shoes at the 2001 pre draft camp (6'8''1/2 in shoes) with a 7'' wingspan. that's exactly the same numbers like Lebron.
with that size and his great athleticism he would be more than capable to also play the small ball PF and defend PFs like West and Odom, who gave us match up problems. sure, this doesn't solve the need for a real big, but it would give us a very nice additional option, especially when playing the Lakers. (and of course for the case of a Cavs vs. Spurs finals)
True, but anything over $4.2 makes him BYC and that screws everything up.
My Gawd! That deadline wont come here soon enough. I'm one of those that is wishing for a move of some kind by the Spurs, but this rumor crap has just completely gotten out of hand. Trade or no trade, I'm ready for it to end so we can move on .![]()
1. Sheed
2. Carter
3. Jefferson
On my wish list
Nocioni > Jefferson for the Spurs...
Jefferson would be a great pickup for the Spurs, but can not give up Hill and Mason for him. Jefferson can slash to the basket, finish at the rim, has a midrange J, a somewhat ok 3 pt shot, and plays D well. Do it!
