I think the smart move is to sign Pops to a 10 day contract and see which seven footer becomes available, with Rasho at the top of the list. I like Malik. He's a good guy, but he isn't what the Spurs need right now.

Malik did play hard, and he hustled. I appreciate that. But as of today he's a 34 year old 6'-6" power forward who doesn't give us anything we don't already have.

    1. Rasho
    2. Mihm
    3. any other NBA player over 6-10
    4. Pops
    5. anyone else
    6. me
    7. Malik

Just out of curiosity, wouldn't rose be able to guard David West or Dirk better than pretty much any other player on the Spurs?

Maybe, but thats not that big of a priority anymore seeing as their teams aren't that good anymore.

What about Chris Mihm? He's had a tough time of it lately, but he's a 7-fter who tries hard and he knows the Lakers. We could do worse.
Sorry folks. Chris Mihm is no longer available.

I dont see why ppl are hating on Malik so much, he brought hustle, intensity, boards, and some points when he was here. It's not like he's "finished" like most people say when he never ing played in NY. EVER. So as far as big men are considered Joe Smith is out there, Pops is out there, Mihm and Rasho if bought out, and Malik now.
i don't think it's hating on malik. i think most people here respect what malik gave us (i know that i do).

but you're talking about a guy who was undersized and undertalented, but made up for it with hustle and athletic ability. he no longer has that athletic ability. he's been flat out terrible (no other word for it) for 4 straight years now. limited minutes at times...but still terrible.

    +2

Malik was a good energy player. I don't know how much he has left. However, the Spurs big problem is size. They don't have enough size to contend with the taller frontlines of the Western Conference (Blazers, Mavs, Fakers.....mainly the Fakers). At 6'6", Malik simply doesn't address that issue.

why the would you want malik??? why do you guys get so attached to players??!? "no we cant trade manu,,,i love him..etc"

manu needs to GO! bowen and finely too. mason, hill..etc should of been on the chopping block too. SPURS REALLY DROPPED THE BALL ON THIS TRADE DEADLINE!!!!

Go back to Phoenix where you can kiss your Phoney Suns collective asses all day long. You Suns fans have got to be the biggest losers on the planet. And change your team affiliation on your profile back to the Phoenix Suns. We here in Texas ain't got much use for you impostors.

Malik will never play for Pop again after Malik set Pop up for a big raise and then went into hiding after he received it. Then after Pop traded him off Malik pouted and acted like a child. He is now over the hill and still collecting big bucks. Malik's career is finished.
