Not as far as Popovich is concerned.
Wait, what was the greater than for? To illistrate that Pop likes defense or to say that Good defense would have stopped the dunks? I was responding to what I thought was the latter.

I wasn't talking about the Cavs D...i was talking about his.
His D wasn't terrible. He's new, let him get adjusted. He has all the tools.

Hmmmm. Pops playing with tp might be good. Pop's is a really good off. rebounder. Timmy and kurt are beast on def rebounds.

He's explosive and i liked watching him, but it's difficult to evaluate his overall game because of who he was playing against
I agree which is why I say play him more against better players and let's see how he does.

I was talking about his defense. My bad, i should have clarified.

I really did like him out there, i thought he looked good...but he's not gonna get minutes if he can't be a presence on the defensive end (no matter how many monster man dunks he throws down). I guess I'd really just like to see how he handles himself against a first or second unit.

really want him to play a leon powe role on the spurs for the playoffs. sporadic minutes is probably his best case scenario. adds contagious excitement and energy to energize the bench players to be more aggressive. can keep momentum going when some starters sit. all will be great contributions if he's up to it.

I loved his game today. Definitely got the crowd going. Well, he dunked over big Z pretty well and drew the foul. His rebounding looked a bit shaky and his defense was ok for a new player. I am pretty sure a few more practices with the team and he just might convince the FO to sign him for real.

I hope we keep him the rest of the season and sign him for next year too....

    Just think of this lineup

    C - Mahimni
    PF - Pops
    SF - Gist
    SG - Hairston
    PG - Hill

Ya...we'd have a of a shot at Ricky Rubio in the lottery.
you do realize that the lineup I posted would be our second unit, not our starters.

I love it. This five (running the Spurs system) would smoke the Lakers' second unit.

Teams wouldn't know how to contend with our machine first unit, then the thoroughbred second unit. It would present massive problems for pretty much everybody.

Unlike Elson...POPS doesn't have Stone Hands. He actually can catch a pass and not fumble the ball a second later. I think that in itself is a HUGE upgrade over Elson.

I'm surprised a good amount of people said he needs a lot of work on defense, I thought he hustled and tipped a fair amount of balls, he blocked daniel gibson's layup as well. He fouled a few people, but that was just while he was contending them to make sure they didn't get wide open layups, I didn't think they were silly fouls. And for the people that said his rebound was shaky, didn't he come up with like 3 contested offensive rebounds, and finished with like 6 rebounds in 11 or so minutes? I agree he's still adjusting to the system, but his defensive and rebounding effort was there, I thought he played well pretty much in all aspects, certainly he still has room to improve though and I agree with the people that said he needs to play against better people to show his skills.

Pops has great atheletic ability, you got to be drunk not to give him some serious playing time. He is big, atheletic, young, and has heart. You can't go wrong. Join the POPS train.

i got to see pops play last night in person. his defense isn't actually that bad, even if it was against 2nd and 3rd string players. i ing loved how he went after loose balls and got some rebounds too.

His rebounding and athletiscm are his highlights.

He did have a block and contested layups but, his defense needs work. His rotation needs a lot of work. And there a couple plays he didn't attempt to contest jumpers from the baseline. He was a little lacksidasical on the open court...perimeter d. I can see him as being a Defensive liabilty against better players...for now. Just needs to learn the system better and improve d.

It looks like anything around the basket is his territory though. Blocks, rebounds, dunks
