FINALLY. I was seriously wondering why it took so long.

Odds that he suits up and maybe plays tomorrow night?

    yES.

So when can I buy a Gooden Jersey?
Whenever you want. Try the CBS Sportsline store. They make customized jersey shirts for cheap. Of course NBA.com makes the regular jerseys as well.

they could have kept pops whatevar his name is that they called up from the D-league.Drewwill be a good fit but its gonna take him some time to learn the system. He and kurt thomas are basicalley the same players anyway other than kurt having bettar d.both will knock down the 10 to 15 fotter, still not enough for the lakers though.

    No thanks on this stiff.
Points scored by Oberto in the 2007 nba finals:

    Game 1: 0 points

    Game 2: 4 points

    Game 3: 6 points

    Game 4: 7 points

That's an average of 4.25 ppg. Oberto's average for the '06-'07 season was 4.4 ppg.

    It's official!!

I know some Spurs fans were thinking that the Lakers were going to swoop in and steal him from the Spurs!!

I'm glad it's done and now he needs to get healthy and be ready to play by the end of month and the playoffs.

The greatest thing about this pickup is knowing that Gooden will be playing his hardest for a new contract. Its pretty much a no risk, high reward situation.

bout time! they already got decent perimeter d (didn't show last night against the mavs though) they just need a little improvement on the interior. welcome to a winning team Drew
Drew Gooden will do nothing to help our interior D. He'll be the interior scoring we've lacked off the bench, plus rebounding. That's it.

A good bargain for the price, but don't overestimate what he brings to the table.

Not overestimating....but if he can score points in the post and rebound with the 2nd unit that maybe all the help the Spurs need especially when Manu comes back with that unit as well.

Gooden, bring it on. I'm excited by this news. Spurs have longed for a big man who could help tim in the post. Now we have gooden. He may not be the savior, but he could be the missing piece in our puzzle to get the 5th ring.

Gooden is a lot better than Thomas at this stage. He's bigger, taller, and 9 years younger.

Remember, this dude has some talent. He was the # 4 draft pick, 1st team all-American in college, and was 1st-team all-rookie. He started for a team that made the NBA finals two years ago. We now have some depth among our bigs as well. He has scored double digit 7 straight years and can rebound.

    Stats

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/...goodedr01.html

Looking at these stats, he was a top 10 rebounder from '05 to '07, and he is only 27 years old. He has just had some minor injuries recently, his per 36 minute numbers have not dropped a bit,a dn ahve actually gone up. He also shoot 87% from the line, that nice as well.

Factor in that Joe Smith is a fossil and Ben Wallace broke his leg, Bynam is out, and KG is battling injuries and slowing dow, and things look good for # 5!
