I think Pop realized that come playoff time Hill will be another defensive stopper and maybe Manu's breather help at the two for a couple of minutes.. that is what he thinks it could be his role for the playoffs.. and i agree... he may run the point for some stretches so... it's all good to me.. all combo guards kind of duties...

I am still not liking this move. Mase is a darn good shooter when he's hot. Its not all the time he is hot though. I want to see Hill play some more at the backup PG position.

I think that Pop has realized that at this point in time, Hill doesn't have the split second decision making ability at this time to go forward into the playoffs as the #2 PG. He likes Hill, and wants to find a playoff role for him, but doesn't want another Beno meltdown.

I don't like Pop turning Hill into a glorified shooting guard and resident defensive stopper only. Of course, I'm sure he has his reasons and since I'm not the coach, my opinion doesn't count.
Easy. Hill is ready for that role NOW. Pop can work on him becoming a PG in the offseason. But we need to win now

I noticed last night that Hill still looks lost on the offensive end when the team runs their sets. I am really not in favor of him just camping out at the three point line and jacking up shots but I think you need to utilize his athleticism, by allowing him to move around more on the offensive side of the ball. Maybe allow him to come off a screen and catch and shoot or set back screens for him to get to the hoop.

He just seems like while Pop wants to give him freedom, he still doesn't know the best way to use Hill. I didn't like the idea of RMJ running backup point just because against some of the better defenders, he might lose control of the ball and turn it over, but he seems to be doing well. I don't think all of the back-up point duties should be taken away from Hill because he still can penetrate when he wants. I just don't want Pop turning him into another Antonio Daniels where he doesn't know what he wants him to be.

I think hill has good handles. He was much more comfortable on offense when he was given the green light by pop during that stretch where Tony and Manu were out. He needs to play with that same mentality.

Defensively hill shines though. He's very active, like a mini bruce.

Brown didn't make it public. This info has been known for more than one week.
Yup. It's been some time now.
Off topic but seeing what Brown makes with a team like the bobcats, he could really help our NT. Brown is a great coach even if he's not flawless.

I don't think Pop removed the green light.
I actually like what Mason at point guard potentially brings. His ability to shoot
threes and shoot off of screens spreads the floor and gives the defenses a different look from the all out attack the basket look that Parker primarily brings. The two styles compliment each other and causes defenses to change focus.
Will it work? Only one way to find out. Try it now so all involved have a feel for it and get comfortable. I don't think you wait until the playoffs and have a situation develop and then just throw Mason in that role. Yes ,he is a veteran , but some time for both him and his teammates to have him in that role has to benefit all.
Now, I do want Hill to get his minutes as an energized Hill can contribute in tandem with Parker or Mason and not have the pressure of running the team.He seems to be handling things very well considering his play the last couple games. Nothing at all to be lost by the Mason at point experiment as long as Hill still gets some minutes.
