Conservatives are getting more and more concerned and looking for ways to combat the insanity in D.C. That's why ratings are up for the big talk show hosts like Rush, Sean, Mark Levin and Laura Ingraham. In fact, they're adding new stations. The ratings are also up for the Fox News Channel, while MSNBC is sinking.
Rush had his own TV show for a while in the early 90s. I clearly remember his bulletin board in the back with every day that Clinton was in office that said "America held hostage, day 50 (etc)".....

yet Clinton got re-elected rather easily.....

Ratings are up beause people like to hear opinions on what politicians in power are doing wrong..........even if they aren't really doing anything wrong.....

He's still a celebrity for sure, but I wonder how the G20 economic summit will hurt his standing from a world-view. Word is, he already took support for increased numbers in Afghanistan out of the picture b/c it wouldn't have garnered enough support...

I think his celebrity is fading abroad and I wonder how much longer he has here before his popularity numbers come back down to earth. At this point he's way too popular for having accomplished next to nothing.

As long as he's not Bush, he'll probably remain popular overseas.

No, I don't think G20 will hurt his Q-rating one bit. No matter how it actually goes, we have to remember that (1) the agreements have already been agreed upon, weeks or months in advance. This is just PR; they're going to schmooze, sign a few do ents, and that's that. This is standard diplomacy, all presidents do this. And Obama would NEVER show up with his entourage and teleprompter if there were even a small chance of failure.

and (2) the news stories summing up G20 have already been written. "The G20 was an enormous success, Obama has restored American credibility," yadayada.

If it were only so. WH23's PFA G-20 prediction is plenty of earnest throat clearing followed by few substantive results. Promises to hang together will be made. And they will fall apart.

Sanguine. You seem to think the story has already been written and that it is a story of success; WH23 expects unscripted failures.

Obama can do plenty wrong -- I'm just saying Bush already did plenty wrong and Obama would do well to avoid Bush's mistakes.

It took Bush and company six years to find their asses when it came to foreign policy. Towards the end they were doing a few things right, as long as they weren't letting Cheney dictate policy stances.

Most of the stink on the was produced pretty much from Cheney.

Hopefully this time around, the administration won't have such a flat learning curve, and be so shackled by outmoded, ossified thinking.

I fully expect a few mistakes here and there, though. So far I haven't seen anything truly moronic or self-defeating.

If the worst thing that happens is giving the Queen of England an iPod, I will be enormously happy.
