Pop, stop playing not to lose and start playing to win. You were correct to start Manu but Hill is your backup PG. Thomas should start over Bonner. Gooden should be in when ever Duncan is not. Bonner and Mason should only get situational minutes. and above all start Bowen or at least put him on the guy who is hot from the other team. Doing anything different will put us out in the first round.

    Dear Pop,

    1. ...still smarting from Beno in 2005? You've never really trusted young players, so Hill, who was a game changer in the 1st half of the season, sits wasted on the bench. Get over it old man, and play the kid. He might up and lose a game along the way, but sure as we are going nowhere with JV or Mason running the backup PG.

    2. Bite the bullet over Ime vs Bowen and do it NOW. You think Bowen has anything left, PLAY HIM. If not, put him in a suit and let him sit.

    3. When you have 12 secs to play and you're up against the Thunder, CALL A ING TIMEOUT. Their D is average at best, and with one of your set plays you could have carved them up.

    4. Get a ing grip, old man.

    Regards,

    Ruff
Couldn't have said it better. Mother er has never trusted young players. That's what separates great coaches from good coaches. I've always said this, Pop is a good coach not a great coach. When facing Phil Jackson, i just sense how scared and intimidated Pop is.

Jackque "ugly ass" Vaughn is a ing scrub. How on earth can you play that tool??? Mother er committed a stupid foul at the end of the 3rd quarter and the beginning of 4th.

TIME OUT! Maybe we push it with no time out on a better defensive team like Celtics, Cavs or Lakers, but against OKC....TIME OUT! You get 14 full seconds on your side of the court. We killed 5 or 6 seconds just dribbling up the court!

Pop sucks sometimes. He is too conservative. He thinks because he has to prepare the team for a post-Bowen era, he goes one step further and acts like Bowen's already retired??? It doesn't make sense.

WTF, we need these wins!! and he's really sucking the entertainment factor out of these games by accepting these preventable losses.
And just because he's going to use Bowen for the playoffs, doesn't give him the right to keep Bowen away. If we're in an uphill battle because we don't have Homecourt, overly preserving Bowen will be all for naught.

Amen. Hill over JV, Thomas over Ime at PF, Bowen ofver Fin and Ime at SF, Mason starting at SG, all obvious that must be corrected by the POs, or the Spurs will get swept by the Lakers in the WCF, if they even make it that far. And Manu with the 2nd unit, Mason works best with TP.

Pop was doing a fantastic job until the ASG.

After the ASG he's doing his worst job as head coach

You whiny ass es are all on crack. Sometimes all a coach can do is let the players "figure it out" on their own. I'm sorry but most of you want Hill in there because of what he did in the first half of the season, but truth be told, the guy has regressed offensively and even his defense seems suspect at times.
Everyone and their mothers keeps complaining about having Mason handle the back pg duties, so what does POP do? He brings back JV...and you still complain!
The real reason this team is showing major suckage has everything to do with poor on court chemistry mostly due to injury and the injection of new guys into the team.
The only really valid complaint that I hear from anyone in here is Bowen's playing time. I don't think Bowen has lost as much as many may think. However, I do believe it has to be because right now with TD's bad case of vaginosis we need O. Udoka brings more O than Bowen.

    you all.

In all honesty I think Pop is going for the Lakers. He wants the 8th seed because he thinks that the only team that matters are the Lakers so he wants to play them ASAP.

then..... no time out... on the last play...????? WTF
didn't the same thing happen in the previous loss...to New Orleans? IIRC, Pop didn't call a timeout before our last possession and the Spurs ran around like chickens and threw up a crappy shot.

I think he is playing certain players more now to see if they will be ready for the playoffs. ie- Udoka, Vaughn

I don't see the Spurs defense as good enough to beat the best teams without Bruce Bowen playing 20+ minutes. They need Bruce to slow the top scorer on opposing teams and that is the difference.

I don't question Pop. His record speaks for itself. The issues the Spurs are having aren't his fault.

    Pop is really frustrating me..

-Hill is a GAME CHANGER..he's a great defensive PG with athleticism..when Westbrook was DOMINATING our perimeter D and getting inside at will, why wouldn't Pop even consider putting in an athletic PG with a huge wing span? it's ridiculous..Vaughn is horrible..

of course a rookie is going to make mistakes..but he helped the team more than he hurt it..

    - Bowen needs to ing play..our offense isn't exactly dominating like we're "supposed to" with Bowen on the bench..when Durant was making shot after shot, put Bowen in the ing game..

it's not only about Bowen's defensive ability..he brings LEADERSHIP..he gets in other players minds..he gets respect from the refs..he brings so much to this team..he makes corner 3s at a much better rate than Ime..

    - Kurt Thomas needs to start..I've been saying this for months now..Bonner should be an offensive spark off the bench..

we aren't going anywhere this season if Finley is playing 25 MPG, if Ime is ahead of Bowen in the rotation, if Vaughn is in the rotation at all..

Our two defensive players waste away on the bench like they have leprosy.

Our starting center chucks threes and cannot rebound, but gets 33 minutes. Even though we get a gift Drew Gooden who isn't an old timer like KT, yet he gets < 10 minutes.

JV > 13 minutes. Udoka > 13 minutes. Our "sleeper" rookie and defensive stalwart ZERO.

Let Tim finish some quarters and don't take let him sit for HALF of the fourth quarter.

Finley too much PT. He cannot cover Durant obviously.

Why start Manu now? Is that how you motivate Mason after a bad game?

How many more years is Pop's contract? He did good monitoring minutes early with the injuries, but now that everyone (outside of Fab) is back, the lineup is in worse shambles than ever. Pop, figure it out or ask someone with half a clue. Oh wait, PJ is gone.

This is a Spurs forum. And Spurs fans are in the reality based community and when Pop is coaching this badly, some of us will point it out.

But what are you doing meddling in the middle of our discussion about our team?
